    Kathy Shields, Vice President, Learning & Development Manager for Technical Learning, Technology Information Group, Wells Fargo  

    Kathy Shields is a Vice President, Learning & Development Manager for Technical Learning with Wells Fargo’s Technology Information Group. She has been with Wells Fargo since 2002. In her current role, she and her team work with external vendors to provide technical training. Prior to Wells Fargo, Kathy has been involved with the learning community through working with educational publishers in technical learning roles and building from scratch a technical learning program for a dot com. She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and a Certification in Distance Learning from the University of Wisconsin. Beginning in early 2007, Wells Fargo has moved nearly 100% of the technical training to a virtual environment. We consulted with the Mayo Clinic and TEKsystems to get our initial direction. Though a culture change for our team members, our classes have long waiting lists and the feedback is very positive and we have learned a great deal about virtual technical learning.


    Laura Bates, Senior System Analyst for Information Technology Education, Mayo Clinic  

    Laura Bates started her career at Mayo Clinic Rochester in 1984 where she managed and supported three of Mayo’s Data Centers.   This included coordinating support and training for Data Center staff that supported 100’s of online systems.   Laura has been involved with Mayo’s online learning since 2001 and is the co-chair for Mayo’s Information Technology Education Steering Committee.  She is currently a Senior System Analyst for Information Technology Education.  Her current assignment focuses on implementing and supporting Mayo’s virtual classroom environment, across the foundation.  This provides online synchronous collaboration for employees across the Mayo sites.  Her role includes facilitating the effective use of the technology as educators and learners move from the traditional classroom, towards an online environment.    She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Winona State University and a Project Management Certificate from Cardinal Stritch University.

      Todd Wright, Instructor, TEKsystems, and Founder, JTConsult  

    Todd Wright is a developer, architect, and educator in the software development technology. Todd has been training software professionals at many Fortune 500 companies worldwide since early 1996 and has over 5 years of virtual training experience.  Virtually, he has taught from a list of over 20 different course titles such as WebLogic 9.1 Systems Administration, Java using RAD 7.0 and Websphere 5.1 Portal.  In total, Todd has successfully delivered over 60 classes in virtual environment.  While not training, he has been designing and building applications using the .NET platform and J2EE platform. Todd is a certified Java Programmer as well as a Microsoft MCSE. His key skills are in the area of C#.NET, VB.NET,  Enterprise Java Technology (J2EE), Perl and XML related software.
