With thousands of units sold and tens of millions of operating hours under its belt, Capstone Turbine has become the standard for customers who require power generation with low emissions, low operating costs, and high availability/reliability. The added benefits of CHP further improves the value of Capstone units increasing energy efficiency to a greater degree.
Capstone Turbines can provide power generation for remote sites where grid power is unavailable. Typical examples include offshore oil and gas production platforms as well as remote gas pipeline stations where installation of grid power is not feasible. Fuel for these applications can be sourced from pipeline or production gas including fuels with H2S components or gas which is typically vented or flared. Liquids such as diesel, bio diesel, and ethanol can also be used a suitable fuels.
The exhaust from these turbine generators are lowest of any generator available with standard NOx emissions below 9ppm. Further, the high volume of exhaust can be combined with heat recovery and used in process that require hot water, glycol, or oil, as well as direct heat to processes such as heater treaters.
Maintenance costs, reliability and availability of the Capstone Turbines are exceptionally better than competing technologies. By combining the technology of air bearings and the concept of a single moving component, opportunities for failures and requirements of maintenance are minimized. Maintenance costs are less than 10% of the cost of equivalent size reciprocating products with availability over 99% and mean time between failures exceeding 15,000 operating hours.
