Wesley Wheeler, President, Valeant Pharmaceuticals

Mr. Wheeler is President, Valeant Pharmaceuticals. He is responsible for Valeant’s North American Region and Research & Development. He has grown the North American business by nearly 200% in three years, lead the acquisition of nearly 20 products and two small companies and is responsible for worldwide marketing.

Wes has over 25 years in all aspects of business including sales, marketing, development, manufacturing and M&A. Prior to Valeant, he was CEO of DSM Pharmaceuticals where he led the organization through a complete business turnaround by reversing a significant regulatory threat, significantly increasing new business, restructuring the organization, cutting costs and returning the company to profitability. Prior to DSM, he spent 13 years at GlaxoSmithKline in marketing, manufacturing and engineering. He led significant aspects of Glaxo’s two mergers and left the company as Sr. Vice President. Prior to GSK, Wes had a 12 year career at Exxon Research & Engineering Co.

Wes has a BS in mechanical engineering and a Masters in Business Administration.

Dr. John F. Kamp, Executive Director, Coalition for Healthcare Communication

Dr. John F. Kamp is Executive Director of the Coalition for Healthcare Communication, a drug-marketing group with offices in New York City and Washington, DC. He is also of counsel with the law firm Wiley Rein LLP, and is a well-known advocate for First Amendment rights of individuals and corporations. His professional experience includes 10 years with the Washington, DC, office of the American Association of Advertising Agencies and nearly a decade in public policy positions at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Before moving to Washington, Dr. Kamp taught journalism at the University of Iowa and at Tulsa University.

Dr. Kamp earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Notre Dame, his doctorate from the University of Iowa School of Journalism in Iowa City, and his juris doctorate at the University of Tulsa School of Law.

Dr. Kamp is a frequent speaker at industry meetings on ethical, legal, and political issues surrounding drug marketing, and is recognized as an authority on these issues by the print and broadcast press. He serves on the public advisory committees of the American Academy of Family Physicians and WebMD. He is on the editorial boards of the Rx Compliance Report, Medical Marketing and Media, and the FDA Advertising and Promotion Manual. Dr. Kamp is co-author (with Wayne Pines) of 3 books on compliance with FDA policy published by FDA News, including DTC Advertising and Promotion: The Changing Environment, published in January 2006. He is also a public member of the National Advertising Review Board, the self-regulation body of the advertising industry run by the National Better Business Bureau.

Denis Arnold, Director of the Center for Applied and Professional Ethics, The University of Tennessee

Denis G. Arnold is the Director of the Center for Applied and Professional Ethics, Associate Professor of Philosophy, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is widely published in the field of business ethics. His numerous articles have appeared in leading academic journals and are often reprinted. His forthcoming books included the co-edited Ethical Theory and Business (8th edition), The Ethics of Global Business, and Ethics and the Business of Biomedicine. He is currently at work on a book on the ethics of pharmaceutical marketing. At Tennessee his teaching responsibilities include coordinating the undergraduate curriculum in business ethics for 1,200 students a year, directing graduate level research in business ethics, and teaching the core ethics component of the MBA curriculum in the College of Business Administration.

Gene Guselli, Co-founder, President, CEO, InfoMedics, Inc.

Mr. Guselli has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Starting in the 1970's Mr. Guselli was the Director of Professional Services for the Boston Medical Center where he oversaw a variety of medical support services such as biomedical engineering, laboratories and radiology. Mr. Guselli then became the Assistant Deputy Director for Professional Affiliations at the New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation where he oversaw the contractual relationships for the provision of physician services provided by the medical school establishment to the NYC network of municipal hospitals. Mr. Guselli then assumed the position of Senior Consultant to the Health Data Institute, a private corporation which pioneered the use of medical claims data in the development of national managed care networks. In 1985 Mr. Guselli became the operating founder, President and CEO of Private Healthcare Systems,Inc.(PHCS). For the next decade Mr. Guselli provided the executive guidance which established PHCS as the leading national PPO/EPO. In 1995 Mr. Guselli co-founded and was named President and CEO of InfoMedics. During the last decade Mr. Guselli has pioneered the use of technology-driven Patient-Physician communication platforms in the pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Guselli has served on numerous boards in the private and non-profit sector including the AAPPO and Matria Healthcare, Inc. He frequently consults and contributes to a variety of published articles and papers in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Mr. Guselli received his B.S. and MBA from Northeastern University.
