    The fuel for RFID’s growth is in closed-loop applications.  But while many companies are focused on the supply chain, there are a number of other applications gaining traction.  All require the speed, convenience and security of ISO/IEC 14443 standards-based contactless technology.

     

    In this webinar, Texas Instruments (TI), a 20-year veteran in supplying RFID technology for numerous applications worldwide, will discuss the opportunities for closed-loop applications in private label payment and loyalty/membership programs, micropayments, secure ID and corporate access control. 

     

    TI will also detail the contactless chip technology and security requirements needed to effectively develop these closed-loop end-customer applications.  These requirements include configurable chip memory to support multi-applications on a single token, layered security that provides data privacy and protects against cloning and replay attacks, as well as the overall advantages of a high-speed, low-power chip platform design.

    ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS:

    VC Kumar, Manager, Government ID, Texas Instruments RFID Systems  

    VC Kumar is the manager of government identification for Texas Instruments’ RFID Systems.  In this position, VC is responsible for developing new market opportunities for TI’s radio frequency identification (RFID) products including its government identification programs.  Previously, VC was a manager for TI RFID Systems’ contactless commerce group, responsible for strategy and market development efforts for RF payment applications within the retail market.

     

    Prior to this, VC served as program manager for RF payment application development, managing TI’s internal team of engineers, application developers, and product marketers on a range of projects, including ExxonMobil’s Speedpass™ deployment, Phillips 66’s PhilPass program, and Shell Canada’s RF payment technology implementation.  He has also served in operations and quality in the RFID Systems group.

     

    VC earned a M.S. degree with a concentration in mechanical engineering from Drexel University (PA) and an MBA from Southern Methodist University (TX).

    Johnsy Varghese, Worldwide Business Development Manager, Texas Instruments RFID Systems  

    Johnsy Varghese is the worldwide business development manager for Texas Instruments’ RFID Systems business.  In this role he manages TI’s high frequency reader IC product and also oversees the reader IC product team.   Johnsy develops and implements TI’s strategic direction for the high frequency reader IC market and works on new product development and marketing efforts.

     

    Prior to his role in RFID, Johnsy was a systems engineer in TI’s low power wireless division.  There he was responsible for new product definition, strategic marketing and product development for TI’s human interface IC devices.  In this capacity he was instrumental in generating more than $8M a year in new product revenue for TI’s low power wireless business.

     

    Johnsy has contributed to TI’s success across many business units and holds multiple patents.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and earned his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from the same university.  In his free time, he likes spending time with his family.
