Ben & Jerry’s Introduces Seven New Flavors Topped with Chocolatey Ganache

Ben & Jerry’s introduces new Topped ice cream that includes seven flavors topped with chocolatey ganache.

Ben & Jerry’s latest innovation includes a product line of seven new unique flavors all covered with a chocolatey ganache, called Topped.

The company is known to deliver delicious flavors that have been consistent regardless of the social justice connection, partner or playful name that they present to the world. The new Topped ice cream line includes flavors for every fan covered with a layer of luxurious chocolatey ganache.

The seven flavors include Chocolate Caramel Cookie Dough, PB Over the Top, Salted Caramel Brownie, Strawberry Topped Tart, Thick Mint, Tiramisu and Whiskey Biz.

“We wanted to dial up the indulgence level with this unique line of flavors, which entirely challenges how you eat this ice cream,” said Dena Wimette, Ben & Jerry’s innovation guru, in a statement. “We started with sundaes and all the things you addto sundaes to make them great as our inspiration. You could say we ended up going ‘over the Topped.’”

According to Ben & Jerry’s, “eating a Topped flavor is an exercise in personalization and precision. Should you scrape off the layer of semi-soft, chocolatey ganache before going any further? Tunnel down and eat the ice cream first? Or get the best of all worlds by removing the lid and eating the flavor vertically with delicious ganache, chunks and ice cream all in one beautifully balanced bite? Whatever method you choose you can’t lose, so go ahead. This is a judgment-free zone.”

Topped flavors are available at retailers nationwide with a  suggested retail price of $4.99 to $5.49.

Ben & Jerry’s sells products nationwide, producing super-premium ice cream, yogurt and sorbet using high-quality ingredients. Since 2015, the company has only been using non-GMO ingredients as well as using Fairtrade-certified ingredients when possible, benefiting farmers in developing countries. In 2012, Ben & Jerry’s was certified as a B Corp and was granted $3.4 million in 2020 by the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation to support grassroots organizations for social and environmental justice around the country.

In January, Ben & Jerry’s also introduced ice cream for dogs called Doggie Desserts that are available in two flavors: Pontch’s Mix and Rosie’s Batch. The ice cream is made of a sunflower butter base and is available as either single servings or a four-count pack.

“We know our fans love their dogs and treat them like family,” said Lindsay Bumps, a Ben & Jerry’s global marketing specialist, in a statement. “We created this product line so pups can enjoy something even better than belly rubs. Doggie Desserts are the sweetest treat they’ll ever put their paws on.”

The dog ice creams were named after two real dogs in the Ben & Jerry’s office, one being a Frenchie and the other a rescue dog of mixed heritage.

Doggie Desserts will be found in supermarkets, mass retailers and select pet stores nationwide at a suggested retail price of $2.99 for the single servings and $4.99 for the four-count pack.

Back in early 2020, Ben & Jerry’s took the world by storm when they took the cookie dough from their famous ice cream and made it available to consumers as a snackable treat. The cookie dough chunks that were found in their tubs of ice cream were sold separately to be enjoyed outside of a bowl of ice cream.

“We weren’t entirely surprised when cookie dough chunks flew off the shelf,” said Jody Eley, the innovation manager in charge of the launch. “Cookie Dough is our #1 fan favorite around the world, and we know our fans often dig around the ice cream to get to the chunks. We just made it a little easier by putting them in a bag.”

The company has around 54 different flavors, and according to Frozen Food Europe, the most popular flavors of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in 2019 were The Tonight Dough, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chocolate Fudge Brownie.
