IHOP Celebrates National Cereal Day with Limited Edition Lineup of Cereal-Inspired Pancakes and Shakes

IHOP is introducing three new cereal-inspired pancake flavors, but only for a limited time.

IHOP, otherwise known as the International House of Pancakes, is offering a limited-time menu of pancakes and milkshakes just in time for National Cereal Day. While the holiday takes place on March 7, 2020, the cereal-inspired menu will be available until April 12, 2020.

With the aim of “serving up that Saturday morning feeling all week long,” IHOP is offering three new varieties of cereal pancakes. The restaurant’s culinary team joined forces with popular cereal brands to create a unique and flavorful lineup of pancakes and milkshakes.

The menu includes Cinnamon Toast Crunch pancakes, Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries pancakes and Fruity Lucky Charms pancakes, all of which are a twist on IHOP’s classic buttermilk pancakes. The pancakes will include whipped topping and flavors that reflect the cereal, as well as being topped with the cereal itself.

In addition to these new pancakes, the California-based pancake house is also offering three new limited edition milkshakes, one for each variety of cereal.

“Our cereals are not just for breakfast with milk. Families love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Fruity Lucky Charms in a variety of ways throughout the day,” said Garren Hamby, Director of Foodservice Sales with General Mills Convenience & Foodservice in a press release. “We are excited to collaborate with IHOP to create the new shakes and pancake dishes for their guests and our fans to enjoy.”

IHOP is also bringing back their Kids Eat Free promotion for the duration of their cereal pancakes and shakes campaign, so kids 12 and under will get a free entrée from the kids’ menu with the purchase of one adult entrée.

These types of promotions have earned IHOP a positive reputation amongst customers and their sales prove it. The company generated approximately $3.46 billion in sales from its restaurants in the United States in 2019.

The casual dining chain is increasingly expanding to foreign countries and already has 126 restaurants operating internationally. IHOP has expanded to countries including Thailand, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Arab Emirates.

For National Cereal Day, IHOP is hoping to prove to its customers that cereal can be served with more than just a bowl of milk and a spoon.
