Job Description

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals discovers novel, oral, small-molecule medicines that treat rare diseases in which significant unmet medical needs exist and an enzyme plays a key role in the biological pathway of the disease. Oral, once-daily ORLADEYO™ (berotralstat) is approved in the United States for the prevention of HAE attacks in adults and pediatric patients 12 years and older, and under regulatory review for approval in Japan and the European Union. BioCryst has several ongoing development programs including, an oral Factor D inhibitor for the treatment of complement-mediated diseases, galidesivir, a potential treatment for COVID-19, Marburg virus disease and Yellow Fever, and BCX9250, an ALK-2 inhibitor for the treatment of fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva. RAPIVAB® (peramivir injection), a viral neuraminidase inhibitor for the treatment of influenza, is BioCryst’s first approved product and has received regulatory approval in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Director, Commercial Training is responsible for the implementation of the training programs for Rare Disease Specialists, Regional Business Directors (RBDs), Access Account Directors (AADs), and our Specialty Pharmacy Partner. Training will include onboarding, product training, virtual training and advanced training reflecting the needs of the organization. The Associate Director, Commercial Training will be responsible for enhancing the skills of the Rare Disease Specialists, training creation and delivery through collaboration with Sales Leadership. Effective execution of these responsibilities will help develop a sales force that will significantly contribute to BioCryst’s corporate goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Effectively deliver training programs (either at home office or remotely) for assigned brands to ensure and enhance the salesforce’s capability.
• Collaborate with field sales to conduct needs analysis to ensure training alignment with brand-based strategies and legal/compliance/regulatory requirements including new hire training, virtual training, product training, selling skills, and advanced training.
• Collaborate with commercial, compliance and medical leadership in the development of training materials, new product launches and national meetings.
• Provide feedback and input on ways to improve training programs, structure, and resources and to proactively analyze, assess and report the impact of training programs.
• Coordinate with the Regional Business Directors to assist with new hire training (including home study and live training), national and/or regional meetings, and other commercial training initiatives based on number of vacancies and business needs.
• Collaborate with commercial and medical leadership for training based on regional and/or national needs including conducting training needs assessments, content development, deployment and measurement of effectiveness post-training.
• Deliver effective training to new and existing initiatives and support any other business need training.
• Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in the life sciences or adult learning field.
• 5+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience with a proven track record of successful sales performance, management experience preferred.
• 2+ years training or teaching-related experience, including knowledge of adult learning principles and experience with distance learning preferred.
• Demonstrated high level of accountability and maturity.
• Model and support company values.
• Sound understanding of the rare and orphan diseases.
• Ability to effectively communicate the clinical benefits of products, including effective utilization of clinical data in sales presentations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to work with commercial and medical leadership
• Effective facilitation skills, including the ability to make large group presentations at regional and national meetings.
• Strong project management skills such as scheduling, planning, and prioritizing several diverse activities, initiatives, and projects.
• Strong coaching skills, including the ability to give candid and timely feedback.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
