Job Description
Novocure is a global oncology company working to extend survival in some of the most aggressive forms of cancer through the development and commercialization of its innovative therapy, Tumor Treating Fields. Novocure’s commercialized products are approved in certain countries for the treatment of adult patients with glioblastoma and in the U.S. for the treatment of adult patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma. Novocure has ongoing or completed clinical trials investigating Tumor Treating Fields in brain metastases, gastric cancer, glioblastoma, liver cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer and ovarian cancer.
Headquartered in Jersey, and with a growing global footprint, Novocure has regional operating centers in Root, Switzerland, Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Tokyo, as well as a research center in Haifa, Israel.
To support our Clinical Affairs team, we are looking for a Clinical Research Scientist.
The Clinical Research Scientist is part of Global Clinical Affairs supporting enrollment in our clinical trial programs comprised of several pilot and pivotal trials in lung, pancreatic, ovarian and hepatocellular cancer. The focus of this position is on the scientific training of and communication with key opinion leaders and physicians involved in clinical research of Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields). It will allow the employee to spearhead the clinical development of a novel technology that has potential to shift the treatment paradigm in oncology.
This is a full-time, exempt, field-based role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Development of strong and productive relationships with clinical investigators
- Appropriate dissemination of clinical and scientific information related to company’s clinical program
- External communication with investigators and clinical research professionals during conferences, scientific meetings, symposia, webinars and individual meetings
- Support of clinical affairs and clinical trial teams in identification of potential new investigators and clinical sites, and in the development of relationships with these potential investigators
- Input in the clinical protocol development
- Input in data related to DSMB
- Act as the first point of contact for clinical and medical clarification from investigative sites
- Support clinical patient enrollment efforts
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:
- At least 3 years of experience in clinical affairs in a similar position in the pharma, biotech or medical device industry
- Advanced scientific degree (MD, preferred). However, PhD or PharmD with extensive experience will be considered
- Previous experience in oncology is an advantage
- Medical/scientific and clinical research knowledge
- Very good presentation skills
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal)
- Able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and escalate issues when necessary
- Able to work efficiently and collaboratively under pressure
- Able to travel up to 50-60% of time (mainly US and Canada, Europe on occasion)
