Mirati Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MRTX) is a San Diego-based late-stage biotechnology company relentlessly focused on translating drug discovery and research into new treatments for patients by advancing and delivering novel therapeutics that target the genetic and immunologic drivers of cancer. Mirati is advancing a novel pipeline to treat large patient populations across multiple programs and tumor types, including two programs, adagrasib (MRTX849) and sitravatinib, in registration-enabling studies to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Adagrasib is an investigational small molecule and selective KRAS G12C inhibitor in clinical development as a monotherapy and in combinations. MRTX1133 is an investigational small molecule, potent and selective KRAS G12D inhibitor in preclinical development.

Sitravatinib is an investigational spectrum-selective inhibitor of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK) designed to enhance immune responses through the inhibition of immunosuppressive signaling. Sitravatinib is being evaluated in multiple clinical trials to treat patients who are refractory to prior immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy, including a Phase 3 trial of sitravatinib in combination with nivolumab in NSCLC.

The Company has initiated plans to prepare for the commercialization of adagrasib by establishing its commercial and medical affairs team. Your Responsibilities:

The Director, Medical Affairs Strategy is a versatile, flexible and experienced professional with medical oncology expertise. The ideal candidate will have experience working across several functions in oncology. The focus of the role will be to provide strategic medical and scientific leadership to ensure a successful launch for adagrasib. Specific responsibilities for this role may include but are not limited to:

  • Participate as a member on the Medical sub team and contribute to the development and implementation of medical plans and ensure alignment of key medical activities to the medical strategy
  • Cross-functional collaboration to ensure strategic, timely and appropriate scientific communication and external engagement activities around major congresses and medical meetings
  • Provide medical leadership and oversight of the cross-functional medical team in the execution of the key congress activities
  • Recognized as an internal subject matter expert and accountable/responsible to deliver high quality medical content deliverables, including slide decks, FAQs, and background documents for training
  • Oversee vendor/agency management for medical communications
  • Partner with internal and external experts to complement medical-led training efforts related to disease state, patient journey, therapeutic landscape, and preclinical, clinical and real-world evidence data
  • Coordinate and lead various virtual and in person medical training events
  • Represent medical on any review of promotion materials
  • Partner with Commercial colleagues to ensure successful product launch and relevant activities

What is Required:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences
  • 7+ years professional experience with deep oncology experience
  • Strong organizational skills and track record of execution and operational effectiveness
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks and prioritize appropriately
  • Team orientated and ability to work collaboratively towards common objectives
  • Strong sense of accountability and ability to execute on deliverables
  • Embraces an agile and flexible mindset as focus and role/responsibility may evolve over time
  • Travel may be required up to 30% of your time
  • This role may be based in San Diego or remotely, depending on the candidate
