Job Description

Visby Medical is an ambitious, well-funded late-stage biotech startup. Visby is headquartered in San Jose, CA.  It is preferred that you live in the Bay Area and can work in the office 3 days/week.

About the job

We are in the midst of an incredible scaling journey and are looking for a Head of Talent Acquisition that will lead a diverse team of full-cycle talent partners and talent operations specialists. You will report to the Chief People Officer and collaborate across the leadership team and People team in a start-up environment.

Here’s what you’ll care about

Through a close partnership with business leaders, and our people team, your curiosity and thought leadership is focused on building a representative organization that is set up to successfully grow Visby through our next chapter.
  • Exceptional Candidate Experience: You are committed to an exceptional candidate experience, irrespective of the candidate outcome.  You care deeply about solving problems with a relentless focus on the candidate.

  • Data and Metrics: You are data-driven and effectively leverage data to inform recruiting strategies.

Within your first six months, you will

  • Build relationships across Visby’s leadership team and gain an understanding of Visby’s strategy, and objectives and key results (OKRs)
  • Shape the creation, evolution, management and execution of recruiting strategies to support and achieve Visby’s OKRs
  • Lead a global and dynamic team of TA professionals in a way that moves towards predictable, sustainable growth for the company
  • Inspire, mentor, coach, and guide a highly motivated talent acquisition team to deliver outstanding results while effectively communicating the critical dimensions of the recruiting strategy and ensuring tight alignment with business plans.
  • Oversee tools and technology that enable process improvement and efficiencies while driving internal team effectiveness and establishing collaborative processes for how we operate within the People team.
  • Establish and regularly report on key performance metrics.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have

  • At least 10 years of progressive talent acquisition experience in a hypergrowth environment, including ownership of strategy and accountability for operational execution
  • Experience partnering closely with and influencing senior leadership
  • Strong collaboration skills across the organization
  • High aptitude for coaching, mentoring and developing talent
  • Dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion with a passion to advocate for more inclusive approaches to hiring.
  • Solid analytical skills and ability to work with metrics, numbers, and trends to tell a meaningful story to multiple audiences.
  • A deep understanding of sourcing strategy and technologies, market trends, and talent strategy
  • A strong understanding and demonstration of our values. You'll leave colleagues and candidates with an enhanced opinion of Visby and our TA organization.

It's great if you have

  • Experience recruiting in the Life Sciences industry
  • Experience recruiting in a company that builds hardware and software
  • Thrived in companies both large and small
  • Worked with Greenhouse and Workday
