Job Description
Poseida is seeking an outstanding candidate to join our Lab Operations team. The Lab Technician is responsible for providing broad support for research personnel by maintaining lab facilities, conducting basic lab equipment maintenance, washing and autoclaving glassware, coordinate collection of biohazard/chemical waste, and replenishing lab supplies.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Set up and conduct daily operational maintenance of lab equipment, including incubators, water baths, biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, and cold storage units
- Coordinate routine equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance with various vendors
- Provide immediate support and troubleshoot issues that arise in the labs (freezer leaks, centrifuge malfunction, incubator contamination, etc.)
- Conduct daily lab inspections to look for equipment issues (alarms, leaking freezers, etc.), help create a safe lab work environment, and communicate safety violations or issues encountered to Lab Operations team or EHS
- Monitor, assist in collection and safe disposal of hazardous materials, including biological and chemical substances
- Collect lab glassware, wash, dry, autoclave and redistribute to each of the labs
- Replenish lab supplies such as glassware, plasticware, PPE, lab disinfectants etc. at various points of use in the facility
- Perform other support activities such as stock inventory checks, ordering, collection, distribution and related tasks
Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with 6 months plus laboratory experience or High school diploma, GED or equivalent with minimum of 1 plus years of laboratory experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Basic laboratory experience and working knowledge of scientific laboratory equipment
- Familiar with EH&S regulations and handling of hazardous waste
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate verbally in a clear and concise manner
- Problem solving skills to help identify issues in the lab and offer solutions to help the wider team
- Detail oriented team player
- Team player and good communication skills are critical for this role
- Self-motivated, positive, and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description
- Must be physically capable of lifting twenty-five (25) pounds
- DOT and Hazardous Waste Management certifications, a plus
Lab Technician pay rate: $23.56 hour to $29.33/hour
The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience with the industry, education, geographic location, etc
