Job Description

Fusion Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: FUSN) is a clinical-stage oncology company focused on developing next-generation radiopharmaceuticals as precision medicines to treat a broad range of cancers. Employing its platform technology, including proprietary Fast-Clear linker, Fusion connects alpha particle emitting isotopes to antibodies and other targeting molecules in order to selectively deliver the payloads to tumors. Fusion's lead program, FPI-1434, is currently in a Phase 1 clinical trial. The Company is growing a pipeline of precision oncology therapies in development, and recently announced a collaboration agreement with AstraZeneca. Following Fusion's June 2020 IPO, the Company has cash to fund operations into 2024.

The Medical Director will report to the CMO and be responsible for assisting with the advancement of specific radiopharmaceutical oncology programs by devising clinical development strategies and by serving as a representative for Clinical to project specific Development Teams. In addition, the Medical Director serves as the Medical Monitor for ongoing clinical trials in assigned trials, ensuring compliance with ICH/GCP and federal regulations. The right candidate will also be responsible for providing managerial support and oversight of direct reports in addition to assisting in building out a Clinical group.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Medical and Clinical Development expertise and leadership to assigned clinical development programs
  • Design and draft protocol synopses, clinical trial protocols and protocol amendments, and contribute to various regulatory documents, IBs, INDs and DSURs
  • Provide medical oversight of multiple clinical studies and provide medical input and guidance on scientific, clinical and safety monitoring issues
  • Partner with Clinical Operations and provide leadership and direction to clinical project teams
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clinical trial investigators/physicians, KOL's and clinical advisors through independent collaborations and scientific meetings
  • Provide strategic input on compounds in development and propose clinical development strategies
  • Provide medical expertise as needed for business development initiatives
  • Provide medical and scientific expertise to preclinical discovery groups for compounds that are in preclinical development

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • MD Hematologist/Oncologist, subspecialty training in oncology/hematology is required preferred
  • 7-10 years of hands on pharmaceutical or biotech experience in clinical development within Oncology.
  • Experience leading oncology early clinical development programs and working with discovery, preclinical, translational and external collaborators.
  • Prior managerial experience including direct oversight of MDs, Clinical Scientists and MSLs as well as various functional groups such as but not limited to Statistics and Pharmacovigilance.
  • In depth knowledge of drug development process and oversight of clinical trials
  • Working knowledge of biostatistics, regulatory, clinical pharmacology and pharmacokinetics
  • Prior interaction with Regulatory authorities and rafting regulatory related documents.
  • Prior participation and experience in performing due diligence exercises.
  • Prior experience developing radiopharmaceuticals and/or antibody drug conjugates is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and visual communication skills
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly
  • Professional and pleasant demeanor
  • This is a Boston based position
  • Willingness to travel
