Job Description

Vir Biotechnology is a commercial-stage immunology company focused on combining immunologic insights with cutting-edge technologies to treat and prevent serious infectious diseases. The Vice President, Investor Relations, will build a strategic investor relations program to communicate our mission and progress to the investment community. Reporting to the EVP, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, the Vice President, Investor Relations, will work with senior management, the Vice President of Corporate Communications, and multiple other leaders across the company. As the primary contact with the investment community, this is an important leadership role for Vir with responsibilities that span strategy and planning, content development and communication, and insights.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:

Strategy and Planning

  • Develop annual strategic investor relations program to communicate our strategies and progress to the investment community and adapt the program pending internal and external events.
  • Lead our participation in banking conferences, non-deal roadshows, R&D days, analyst days, bus tours, and 1-1 meetings.

Content Development and Communication

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our technologies, programs, operations, financial performance, partners, competitors, and strategies.
  • Improve investor communications, including: corporate presentation decks, earnings releases, earnings and other conference call scripts, management Q&As, website content, the business section of Form 10-K.
  • Contribute to Board materials, other company press releases, and SEC documents (e.g., Form 8-Ks, Form S-3 fillings).
  • Create briefing materials for management in preparation for investor meetings.

Analysis and Insights

  • Be a primary contact for investment community, maintain database of interactions, and convey sentiments and feedback to management.
  • Analyze shareholder base and investment trends for our company, its peers, and its competitors to inform investor targeting strategy and monitor impact of strategy over time.
  • Follow sell-side models, including comparison to internal forecasts, to assess expectations and determine possible effects for analyst and investor communications.
  • Work with Competitive Intelligence function and other leaders across the company to understand competitor performance, and industry, regulatory, and other relevant trends, to inform unique corporate messaging.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Lead corporate ESG programs.
  • Collaborate on execution of the annual meeting of stockholders.
  • Partner with legal and corporate communications team to ensure all external communications are accurate, consistent. with corporate messaging, and compliant with securities regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 10 years of investor relations experience in a publicly traded biotech/pharmaceutical company, at an investor relations firm working with biotech/pharmaceutical clients, or on the buy or sell-side working in biotech/pharmaceuticals.
  • BA/BS required, MBA, M.D., or relevant Ph.D. desired.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to present and respond to questions about complex scientific and clinical data.
  • Deep understanding of capital markets and the financial statements and valuation models used by investors and analysts.
  • Well versed in SEC and FDA regulations impacting investor and other external communications.
  • Highly collaborative working style across internal and external teams.
