The Fundamentals of Working with RNA from Isolation to Analysis

Life Sciences, Biomarkers, Laboratory Technology, Fundamental Research,
  • Thursday, June 21, 2018

In this free, live webinar, R&D scientists from Thermo Fisher Scientific will help you achieve success by walking you through some best practices for working with RNA from different samples. Topics include:

  1. Factors influencing RNA isolation and analysis
  2. Sample stabilization to prevent RNA degradation
  3. Different RNA isolation methods and the best one for you (e.g. TRIzol , spin columns and bead-based solutions)
  4. Gene expression analysis by skipping RNA purification to go directly from cells to Ct

Speakers

Laura Chapman, Staff Scientist, Sample Preparation, Thermo Fisher Scientific

Laura has been researching and developing RNA isolation methods from various samples since 2006. She was a co-developer of the Cells-to-CT™ product line and also worked on the targeted RNA sequencing product, Ion AmpliSeq™ RNA.

Message Presenter

Emily Zeringer, Staff Scientist, Thermo Fisher Scientific

Emily has been with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s R&D team for over 15 years. She has led and contributed to multiple projects including RNA/DNA isolation from a wide range of sample types, library preparation for sequencing, and purification and analysis of exosomes. More recently, she helped develop high-throughput DNA/RNA extraction methods from clinical samples (such as biofluids) for use within workflows such as pharmacogenomics, pathogen detection, disease studies and biomarker studies.

Message Presenter

Marie Gonzalez, Scientist II, Sample Preparation, Thermo Fisher Scientific

Marie has 10+ years of experience working in molecular biology applications, specifically nucleic acid sample prep. She has helped develop products in the MagMAX® portfolio, created custom workflows for the KingFisher™ instruments, and RNA applications for next-generation sequencing.
