Ray Grill, Principal, Arup
Ray is a Principal of Arup and the leader of Arup’s fire engineering practice in the Americas. He is licensed as a fire protection and mechanical engineer in several states and has over thirty years’ experience in fire protection engineering. Ray is a past president of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers and is a Fellow of the Society.
Ray has served on a number of NFPA technical committees and served as chair of the Fundamentals and the Notification Appliances Technical Committees (TC) of the National Fire Alarm Code Project (NFPA 72). He is currently a member of the Notification Appliances TC, Emergency Communications TC and serves on the Technical Correlating Committee of NFPA 72. He also serves on the NFPA 13 Technical Correlating Committee and NFPA 101/5000 Technical Committee on Building Services and Fire Protection Equipment. He is also a member of the International Code Council General Code Committee for the development of the 2018 International Building Code.
Ray has been instrumental in the application and understanding of NFPA codes, including helping clients with Emergency Communications. He also serves as an industry expert on code development and regularly helps clients solve code and fire safety challenges on a broad range of projects including commercial, residential, large assembly, healthcare and other institutional facilities

Rodger Reiswig, Director, Tyco Fire Protection Products
Rodger Reiswig has been employed with Tyco Fire Protection Products for over 29 years. He started his career as a Technical Representative and has held several positions within SimplexGrinnell. Positions include Sales, Field Sales Engineer and Sales Manager. As Director of Industry Relations, Rodger represents Tyco worldwide and is able to devote his time to representing Tyco on various codes and standards committees as well as serving on various association and organization boards and committees. Rodger currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association, AFAA. He is also the Co-Chair of the AFAA Codes and Standards committee. Rodger serves as Vice-Chair of the NEMA Signaling Section, 3SB. Rodger serves on the A117.1 Accessible and Usable Buildings.
Additionally Rodger serves as a member of ASME, (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) and serves on the A17.1 Elevator and Escalator Safety Code, Emergency Operations Committee. Rodger is a member of the National Advisory Council for the Congressional Fire Services Institute in Washington, DC. He serves on UL, (Underwriters Laboratories) STP 2572 Control and Communication Units for Mass Notification Systems and serves on ULC, (Underwriters Laboratories of Canada) S575 Commissioning Fire Protective Systems. Rodger also serves on NFPA’s Fire Protection Research Foundation’s technical advisory council.
Rodger also serves as chair of the Standards Committee for NEMA. Rodger also served as Chair for the creation of the NEMA document, “COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS FOR LIFE SAFETY IN SCHOOLS”. Rodger has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Evangelical Theological Seminary, holds certifications from Two Rivers Technologies as a Master in Telecommunications, and from Eastern Technical holds a certification in Electronics Technology and Microprocessor Design. Rodger holds NICET certification in both Fire Alarm and Special Hazard Layout. NICET level IV Fire Alarm Systems Certification and NICET level I Special Hazards Layout Certification.
