Will People Eat Nuggets for Breakfast? Jimmy Dean Thinks So

Jimmy Dean's protein-packed breakfast nuggets and skillet are hassle-free ways to feed families and children.

Jimmy Dean introduced new Breakfast Nuggets and skillets believed to bring more fun to the morning meal than ever before, using already known formats to the consumer, specifically targeting children.

Nuggets are popular fast-food meals that cater to children, whether that’s a McDonald’s Happy Meal or today’s Jimmy Dean Breakfast Nuggets. According to Statista, 73.36 million Americans consumed nuggets in 2020. Innovation in the nugget category has been limited throughout history. New dipping sauces or minor changes to shape are usually the kind of changes we have seen. However, Jimmy Dean has introduced a nugget with the same shape as ones found in your favorite fast-food restaurants but contain different ingredients and flavors.

The company is dedicated to providing consumers with exciting ways to have breakfast. Their latest announcement offers shoppers a nugget filled with protein and breakfast flavors, while the skillets provide an easy-to-make meal that just requires consumers to add eggs.

“We know it’s important to people to have a variety of breakfast options in order to keep mornings delicious and fun,” said Scott Glenn, senior director of marketing, Jimmy Dean brand, in a press release. “We believe breakfast helps people have a great start to their day, whether on-the-go with our bite-sized Breakfast Nuggets or around a kitchen table enjoying the comforting flavors of a Skillet.”

The two Breakfast Nuggets include Sausage, Egg & Cheese, and Chicken Sausage, Egg & Cheese. They are bundled with a crispy bread crumb coating and are made in a familiar form that can be ready in two minutes. Each serving has around 11 grams of protein.

The Jimmy Dean skillets come in two options: Sausage and Meat Lovers, both of which are packed with real vegetables and cheese. Additionally, The Jimmy Dean Delights skillet comes with turkey sausage packed with sweet potatoes and kale to cater to health-conscious consumers. This skillet also includes seasoned vegetables, and a three-cheese blend accompanied by Jimmy Dean’s All-Natural Turkey Sausage.

Six eggs are added to every skillet to provide consumers with 13 to 14 grams of protein per serving. The skillet can be prepared and ready to serve in 15 minutes and provides around four servings.

Jimmy Dean targets families and children that look for simple and nutritious breakfasts made quickly and without hassle. The company has been around for over 50 years and is famous for its Fresh Roll Sausage, Links & Patties, Fully Cooked Sausage Links, Crumbles, Skillets, Breakfast Bowls, Bacon, Stuffed Hash Browns and more.

Plat-based patty Jimmy DeanEven though most of their products are packed with meat, the company launched a new plant-based patty for breakfast sandwiches earlier this year. The company recognized that demand for plant-based products has increased since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many Americans reported that they would like to transition to a flexitarian diet, reducing meat intake and substituting it with plant-based foods.

“Plant-based foods are revolutionizing the way people eat across meal occasions, including breakfast,” said Scott Glenn, senior director of marketing, Jimmy Dean brand, in a statement. “As the protein breakfast leader, expanding our portfolio to provide people with alternative choices was critical. We also had to deliver the same signature flavor and quality people expect from the Jimmy Dean brand with our new sandwiches, and we’re excited for both our lifelong and new fans to try them.”

The new products include Jimmy Dean Plant-Based Patty, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches and Jimmy Dean Delights Plant-Based Patty & Frittata Sandwiches.
