Youngevity Launches CBD-Fortified Coffee

YGYI has been working on a CBD coffee within its HempFX line of full-spectrum CBD products, the company says it plans to provide specific dosing via a K-Cup or single-serve delivery system.

Coffee is one of the world’s most sought-after commodities, and its large consumer base allows product developers to get creative when finding innovative ways to attract new clientele.  With cannabis gaining momentum on the world stage, a company is investing in a new coffee product for cannabis-curious consumers.

Omni-directional lifestyle company, Youngevity (YGYI), has officially moved into the cannabis sector, with the company announcing they are in the process of launching a cannabinoid (CBD) infused coffee.

YGYI has been working on a CBD coffee within its HempFX line of full-spectrum CBD products, the company says it plans to provide specific dosing via a K-Cup or single-serve delivery system.

CBD is a non-intoxicating compound found in cannabis and has been recognized in studies for its wellness benefits such as decreasing anxiety and chronic pain.

YGYI recently purchased the assets to Khyros, a hemp-based manufacturing company in Florida that builds equipment to extract CBD. David Briskie, the president and Chief Financial Officer of YGYI is hoping this investment, will help accelerate the process of getting their fortified cannabis coffee to market.

“We are enthusiastic that the capabilities of our team at Khrysos Industries is delivering dividends so quickly. We have been perplexed in delivering CBD to a cup of coffee at consistent doses, but now we have a solution that passes the scrutiny of laboratory testing and we are excited to bring these products to market. Our team at Khrysos has cracked the code on the production of water-soluble CBDs,” said Briskie.

With YGYI’s global network of customers and distributors, the company is hoping to launch the cannabis coffee line through two brands of distribution, one for direct sales off their HempFX line, and the other marketed to food retailers from their Javalution Coffee brand.

Although under US federal law it is still illegal to sell and distribute CBD products, the company plans to sell the coffee products in all 47 states where state-specific regulations allow for the legal selling and distribution of CBD products either medicinally or recreationally. Permitting the coffee products to be sold everywhere in the US except Idaho, Nebraska and North Dakota, where cannabis in any form continues to be illegal.

The HempFX line can be purchased for pre-sale at the start of May, large-scale retail distribution will have to wait until later that month.

Ernesto Aguilia, the President of CLR Roasters, YGYI’s bean roasting subsidiary that specializes in gourmet and fortified coffees, says the CBD infused beverage will come in a variety of flavors.

“The initial line of coffees for both brands will be available in four profiles including Donut Shop, Dark Roast, House Blend, and French Vanilla – all delivered in a single-serve format yielding 10 milligrams of CBD to the cup,” Aguila states. ”

Interestingly, adding CBD oil to coffee has been a growing trend around the world, as consumers claim that the compound has soothing elements that combat the jitteriness associated with drinking too much caffeine.

The market for CBD growth also shows no signs of slowing, with nearly seven percent of Americans already using CBD, placing the potential market opportunity for the much-hyped cannabis compound at $16 billion by 2025, according to a new analysis by Cowen & Co.
