Job Description
The Position
Genentech, Inc. seeks a Scientist 2 at its South San Francisco, CA location.
Duties: Perform in-house, non- regulated bioanalytical discovery work such as non-clinical Pharmacokinetics/ Pharmacodynamics and Toxicokinetic studies in support of small molecule bioanalysis across various biological matrices using various extraction techniques. Manage regulated bioanalytical activities conducted at Contract Research Organization (CROs) by reviewing SOP, validation reports, bioanalytical study reports, and experimental documentation, and by archiving study documents. Provide bioanalytical support to inter-disciplinary project teams by overseeing the bioanalytical method development, validation, and sample analysis, and methodology transfer between CRO for standard-of-care-drugs and Genentech compounds. Provide support to resolve bioanalytical technical issues that arises during preclinical and clinical studies. Conduct CRO site visits of clinics and Bioanalytical laboratories to ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice /Good Clinical Practice standards, and report on findings and make recommendations to improve processes. Evaluate and maintain partnerships with new and existing CROs. Research and apply emerging techniques/method development best practices/validation methodologies in the area of bioanalysis. Develop solutions for internal bioanalytical issues by conducting sample preparations, applying extraction processes including protein precipitation and supported liquid extraction, and utilizing LC-MS instruments. Support studies pertaining to radioactive compounds and evaluate radioactivity detectors to enhance the department's technical capabilities. Domestic travel required 1-2 weeks per year, fully-reimbursed.
Education and experience required: Master's Degree or foreign degree equivalent in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related degree, and at least 1 year of experience in the job offered or a closely related position

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of California is $118,944 to $155,600 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below. - Developing and employing chromatographic techniques
- Applying fundamentals of analytical chemistry
- Generating high-quality data and interpreting results
- Leveraging radioactivity studies in the context of preclinical and/or clinical projects
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of California is $118,944 to $155,600 per year.
