The Gene Therapy Guide is a regional field-based position that help support patient/caregivers at every step of the treatment journey regarding access, reimbursement, abd logistics. The Gene Therapy Guide will work closely with Qualified Treatment Centers, physicians, genetic counselors, nurses, pharmacists, and ancillary staff, as well as patients and caregivers of patients to onboard and address barriers to patient access. This role will involve intricate collaboration with the Ultragenyx Commercial Field Team, to ensure that the team is working in concert to have patients, physician’s offices and partners gain access to therapy.
Work Model:
Field: Officially documented as working as a member of the Ultragenyx field team, generally interacting with third parties on behalf of Ultragenyx.
Responsibilities:
- Hands on and personalized coordination of patient care using a multi-disciplinary team approach, including live meetings with Patients/Caregivers and clinics to educate and support access to therapy
- Reimbursement conflict resolution with assigned patients and accounts, including detailed understanding of reimbursement process and resourcing for alternative insurance and access options for patients
- Provide expertise in coordination of care, working with internal UltraCare, sites of care, specialty pharmacy and payors
- Work as part of a cross functional team to assess Qualified Treatment Center feasibility.
- Provide resources for possible reimbursement education to patients and families to ensure that they are well informed in order to make appropriate decisions regarding their treatment options
- Answer questions about the condition, medication, and help the patient/caregivers follow guidance from their physician.
Requirements:
- 5 to 7 years of prior patient access and reimbursement experience required
- Previous Gene Therapy patient services experience preferred
- Ability to travel 60-70%, with flexibility to adapt schedule to patient/caregiver needs
- Prior reimbursement experience with ability to communicate complex reimbursement scenarios to patients and medical professionals
- Ability to problem solve complex reimbursement scenarios and maintain strong emotional resilience to remain professional during difficult patient or medical calls
- BA/BS in the life sciences or communications preferred
- Reliable, conscientious and responsible and independently able to manage time and balance priorities
- Individual must possess extraordinary positive attitude, exceptional listening skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills #LI-Remote
The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
Pay Range
$166,900 - $206,100 USD
