Job Description
We are an independent, global, one-stop-shop focused on delivering Central Laboratory Services that are tailor-made, timely and flexible to meet the evolving study demands of traditional to increasingly complex trials. Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.
Summary
The Clinical Sample Specialist is responsible for biospecimen management activities for samples arriving at the LabConnect Cleveland facility. The Specialist will perform tasks in support of receiving specimens for storage, onsite processing, distribution to biorepository, and shipments to partner laboratories or other facilities. Additional activities include maintenance of specimen storage equipment, monitoring accessioning and biorepository consumables, and the organization of departmental SharePoint documentation. The Specialist will regularly communicate across departments and interact with project management, facilities, data management, and IT.
Hours: Tues - Sat 7a - 3:30pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive packages from shipping vendors
- Breakdown shipping containers and check in samples
- Accession samples in a LIMS
- Ship and or arrange pickup for same day testing/shipping
- Store samples in appropriate temperature conditions
- Remove samples from biorepository for shipment
- Issuance of sample discrepancies and resolutions
- QC of orders/requisitions
- Maintenance of freezers
- Customer service duties as needed
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with 6 months of experience in clinical trials or specimen management
- Associate’s degree with 1 year of experience in clinical trials or specimen management
- High School Diploma (or GED) with 2 years of experience in clinical trials or specimen management
Language Ability
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and work instructions. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual needs knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, database software, and internet software.
Certificates and Licenses
Medical Laboratory Technician certification preferred.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to dry ice and cold, and must handle biological samples.
