Director, Medical Affairs Strategy

Job Description
Vir Biotechnology is looking for a Director, Medical Affairs Strategy (Hepatitis B Virus functional cure focus). You will manage the global medical affairs strategic plans, including publication strategy, communication strategy, disease awareness, and asset strategy across Vir's HBV functional cure pipeline. Collaboration with the Vir's Hepatitis Delta Medical Affairs Lead is also required. You will develop and implement frameworks, methodologies, and best practices to increase organizational impact and patient centricity. You will report to the Head of Medical Affairs.
This is an onsite position in our San Francisco, CA office.
What You'll Do
- Lead annual medical planning for asset(s); Work with extended medical affairs functions to inform and implement overall medical strategy for assets in pipeline.
- Guide collaboration with teams to provide support, medical review and medical expertise advice.
- Collaborate with medical and clinical operations departments to coordinate the planning, execution, and management of clinical trial activities across medical affairs functions.
- Lead the medical affairs strategy congress activity planning in collaboration with team members and compiling of congress reports including critical competitive intelligence.
- Provide strategic guidance for the generation of medical insights, real-world evidence, and health outcomes research to support product value propositions.
- Establish and maintain relationships with important opinion leaders, medical societies, and other external partners to gather insights and inform medical strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry codes of conduct in the execution of medical affairs activities.
- Represent Vir at scientific conferences, advisory boards, and other external events as a medical expert and thought leader.
- Stay up to date with scientific advancements, competitor activities, and industry trends to inform strategic decision-making.
Who You Are and What You Bring
- Scientific or medical degree (Pharm D, PhD, MD) required.
- 10+ years of medical affairs or clinical development background in hepatitis and immunology.
- Biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience with understanding of drug development and medical affairs function.
- Interpret and articulate clinical/HEOR data and the impact on development programs.
- Understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements for industry medical affairs, R&D and commercial work.
- This role includes travel internationally to conferences and meetings, including occasional weekend travel.

Who We Are and What We Offer
The expected salary range for this position is $194,500.00 to $284,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
