Position Summary:
The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of the company's Ventura facilities. This includes managing building maintenance, coordinating with vendors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and overseeing facility-related projects. The Facilities Manager will work closely with various departments to ensure that the facilities meet the needs of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities:
- Manage the infrastructure and ensure all utilities are operational and adequately maintained.
- Develop, maintain, and implement facility management policies and procedures.
- Maintain the facility in a clean and safe state and operating at peak condition, complying with identified Standards, Regulations, and AVITA QMS.
- Oversee repairs and replacements and/or schedule maintenance of equipment, systems, tools and fixtures. Identify issues with the facility and equipment.
- Maintain service agreements and manage relationships with calibration vendors, maintenance vendors, pest control vendor, janitorial service vendor, and with the landlord.
- Respond to facility-related emergencies and coordinate appropriate responses.
- Maintain records of facility maintenance and repairs.
- Qualify, oversee, and document the repair of facility issues, equipment, tools, and fixtures.
- Identify potential facility upgrades, present to management and manage the work.
- Guide and develop one or more maintenance technician(s).
- Schedule facility walks and assigns action items to address issues and for continuous improvement.
Equipment:
- Determine and document the validation scope for newly acquired equipment, tools, fixtures. This includes temperature-controlled rooms, ovens, refrigerators, and pneumatic equipment. Write validation protocols and report.
- Assure equipment is operating within required parameters. Schedule and follow-up on calibrations and maintenance for equipment, tools, and fixtures. Review the calibration reports and make a disposition.
- Maintain the continuous temperature monitoring system. Keep the subscription current and qualify firmware upgrades. Address temperature excursions in refrigerators, freezers, and in the temperature-controlled rooms.
- Ensure the cleanroom and the compressed air system comply with ISO standards and AVITA specifications at all times. Determine the scope of cleanroom certification tests, schedule the tests, oversee the tests, and approve the test reports.
- Address calibration non-conformance of equipment, tools, and fixtures.
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS):
- Develop and manage EHS programs and procedures.
- Maintain and oversee the compliance calendar for permits for EPA, Fire Department, State Water Control Board, City of Ventura, and others as identified.
- Schedule and oversee hazardous waste pick-ups.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in facilities management or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
- Understand the use of data loggers and temperature sensors.
- Capable of troubleshooting HVAC, compressed air system, and diesel generator issues.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in facility management software and tools.
- This position will be based in Ventura.

Office: This job operates in an office environment and may require routine exposure to warehouse and production areas with elements such as moving machinery, noise, dust, odors, and fumes. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear, stand, walk and/or balance, use hands and fingers to type, handle, feel, grasp, push, and pull.
Manufacturing: Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The individual is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and repetitive motion. The individual is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The individual may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee could be exposed to heat and cold weather, noise, and oils as well as subjected to hazards such as, but not limited to, moving parts and vehicles, heat, and chemicals and electrical current. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in certain areas.
