Job Description
As members of the Health Systems Director team, individuals in this position are responsible for the sales and access strategies that underpin SOBI Rare Disease products in and for achievement of assigned objectives for both the region and assigned institutions/hospitals/health systems.
The ideal candidate for this position will live within the territory (San Francisco Bay area, San Jose, Oakland, Santa Clara, Sacramento, Fresno, Northern CA to Oregon Border and Reno)
Key Responsibilities
- Access: The Health Systems Director (HSD) will be accountable for working cross-functionally to help ensure access to therapy for patients in hospitals and other care settings, as per the product label. This includes appropriate management and coordination of supporting SOBI teams to engage with the health system stakeholders including C-Suite leaders, P&T committees, Pharmacy Directors, and external experts. Health Systems Directors are accountable for coordinating their own account-based activities alongside those of the Market Access, Patient Services, and medical teams who have responsibilities in the same accounts.
- Clinical Acumen: Strong clinical acumen will be paramount in this role. The HSD is responsible for effectively sharing on-label scientific information that translates into real world practice. A strong background in the rare disease market is preferred, and significant Hospital Systems/buy-and-bill knowledge is a must. In addition, previous experience educating clinicians about diagnostic criteria and testing options will be highly valuable.
- Partnerships: The HSD will build strong relationships with key decision makers throughout their accounts, and will provide customers with the product and disease information that helps them develop and implement protocols for optimal patient care.
- Rare Disease Advocacy: The Health Systems Director will be responsible for nurturing and channeling advocacy in order to support patient protocols consistent with the full parameters of the label.
- Delivering Results: The Health Systems Director will be responsible for delivering against assigned objectives, favorably navigating assigned SOBI products through the key influential pathways in assigned systems to include C and D suite stakeholders.
- Identifying and engaging with thought leaders: The HSD will build relationships with key thought leaders to ensure regional understanding of targeted Sobi products. Specifically, raise awareness of Rare Disease products with existing experts and identify and maintain relationships with next generation KOLs by targeting residency and fellow programs and Multi-Disciplinary Teams through clinical in-services and product/disease discussion and educational programs.
- Developing and Executing Business Plans: The HSD is responsible for targeting, prioritizing and clinically managing and selling to multiple stakeholders both at the Physician and Administration/leadership level, based on approved target lists. These may include, Hem-Onc. and PICU Physicians, leaders, Nurses, Pharmacists and other Stakeholders such as Rheumatologists, Immunologists, GI/HEP and Infectious Disease. An effective business planning process should be developed and executed with all cross-functional team members.
- Developing and Executing Account Plans: The HSD will develop and execute account plans based on the national and regional strategies. These account plans will include: (1) priority and attention level for each account; (2) account objectives and action plans; (3) key targets and network maps (4) details for synchronization and coordination of SOBI personnel
Qualifications
- A four-year college degree, preferably in a scientific/medical or business discipline or relevant experience is required.
- Requires 8-12 years of successful field sales experience with at least 3-5 years complex Institutional experience in the Rare Disease, Specialty Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Medical device industry.
- Experience with complex dynamics of biologic distribution and acquisition at inpatient level is strongly preferred.
- Experience with successfully navigating Health System formulary pathways and complex access/reimbursement landscape.
- Exceptional Account and Stakeholder Management experience required; strong organizational and leadership skills necessary to coordinate internal and external Stakeholder, as well as strong customer management skills.
- Strong clinical acumen with demonstrated experience with complex diseases, preferably a rare disease.
- Demonstrated success with medical benefit products added to hospital formulary.
- Prior experience working with Pediatric and Adult Rheumatology and/or Hematology/Oncology physicians a plus

Location
The position will cover the Central Valley region of California.
The base salary pay range for this role is $150,000-$200,000 annually. Actual pay for this position will take into account factors such as experience and location. In addition to a base salary, this position is also eligible for a competitive 401k match, short and long-term incentives, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD and life insurance benefits, in addition to other health and wellness programs and offerings.
