Job Description
Working with limited supervision, this position is responsible for supporting and backing up the Preclinical Scientist by assisting with overseeing daily operations, service maintenance and development, and administrative duties of the In Vivo Operations group in additional to training and mentoring junior In Vivo staff. The incumbent will also help develop and enforce processes and procedures used throughout the department and provide technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Support Daily Operations: Plan and schedule work for In Vivo team. Make independent workload assessments and assign tasks to team members based on pre-determined capacity, work demand, attendance level, and technical skills. Serve as the lead for In vivo studies and/or mice production. Actively monitor study execution from planning to closing. Assist in process development, trouble shooting, risk assessment, document reviews, and inventory management.
- Team Development: Act as a point of contact for questions and issues. Serve as subject matter expert and help develop training materials and conduct training and provide guidance to staff members .
- Technical Support: Perform basic and advanced bio-methods, drug formulation, sample shipping, and other operational tasks.
- Service Maintenance and Administrative Duties: Assist with the implementation of validated processes and maintain robust quality procedures that ensure the integrity of service and In Vivo Operations. Writing and updating SOPs for: day to day lab operations, key maintenance and safety issues, and policies to handle emergencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree Required (Master's Degree Preferred)
- Five years of working knowledge of project management, product generation, and biomedical research methods or other relevant hands-on experience.
- Proficiency with personal time management and prioritization, and leadership skills in a small group without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and mentor teams.
- Ability to work with computer software and databases such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI, etc. Intermediate level of Instem’s Provantis system is desired.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work in a high-profile environment to effectively deal with a wide variety of people and personalities requiring discretion, judgment, tact and diplomacy; astute judgment to recognize limits of responsibility and direct issues beyond level of responsibility to appropriate personnel.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to resolve technical issues independently and in a timely manner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while consistently maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
- Six Sigma/PMP certification a plus.
The salary range is $64,001- $92,802. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
