Overview

Responsible to plan and perform in vitro/in vivo biological sample processing and basic metabolite profiling/identification related DMPK studies and prepare study reports.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Plans and carries out metabolism related experiments (e.g. in vivo biological sample processing, HPLC method development and analysis, in vitro metabolism incubations and assays, radiolabel isotope 14C and 3H handling) and associated research assignments. May help in design set-up.
• Performs basic LC/MS metabolite profiling and identification studies.
• Functions as a study director, principle investigator, or project coordinator including serving as a primary contact for sponsors, responsibilities include planning and supervising more complex and exacting research studies.
• Receives limited instructions on assigned task and expected results.
• Has a full understanding of the study and method; troubleshoots unexpected results.
• Maintains research notebooks in a well-organized manner. All necessary documentation is recorded.
• Performs complex calculations; tabulates and records results.
• Trains junior level scientists.
• Reviews other scientists' calculations and records.
• Prepares accurate data summary without supervision.
• Prepares accurate reports of scientific experiments without supervision.
• Complies with all safety rules, practices good housekeeping, and maintains safe workplace without supervision.
• Learns, enhances, and shares technical knowledge of pharmaceutical areas, DMPK, ADME, In Life, Metabolism, and Bioanalysis.
• Participates in writing and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and suggests practical changes.
• Follows company's safety policies, practices and procedures in order to maintain a safe work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience / Education:

• Bachelor's degree with >10-12 years related experience, equivalent education, experience and training; Master's degree with >6 years related experience, equivalent education, or work equivalent experience and training
• Any similar combination of education and experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Has established a high level of proficiency in experimental methods and techniques relevant to scientific discipline
• An expert in concepts, theories and experimental methods relevant to scientific discipline
• Demonstrates consistent, strong proficiency and broad knowledge in scientific discipline
• Increased understanding of relevant technical concepts as well as literature and data base searching
• Collaboratively researches and proposes methodologies for projects
• Makes significant contributions to the analysis and interpretation of data for internal reports or external publication
• Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Good time management skill in order to perform of multiple projects within deadlines
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Follow and adhere to nonGLP guidelines/SOPs consistent with WuXi AppTec requirement

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
• Must be able to work in lab setting with exposure to biohazards / chemicals (common organic solvents)
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
• Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
• Ability to stand /sit / walk for long periods of time
• Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
• Ability to lift 10 lbs routinely
• Ability to push/pull 10 lbs routinely/ often / occasionally
• Clarity of vision
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors
• Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
• Ability to climb ladders / stairs / scaffolding
