Sr. Director, Laboratory Information System

Job Description
The Sr. Director of Laboratory Information System (LIS) at Baylor Genetics leads the development and maintenance of a robust technology platform supporting the lab's daily operations and data review needs in a regulated environment. This role oversees software development for LIS, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and ensures seamless coordination among cross-functional teams to drive innovation and collaboration throughout the diagnostics workflow.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's or higher degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Biology, Genomics, or related field with ten (10) years of experience in software, preferably with significant experience in software development for molecular diagnostics workflow management.
- Experience:
- At least seven (7) years of experience leading technology and/or software development in an organization producing, marketing, and selling diagnostic products, preferably in either CAP/CLIA/CLEP-regulated LDT laboratories or with FDA-approved IVD manufacturers.
- Knowledge of sample-to-report workflows for molecular diagnostics.
- Experience in data, QC review, and report writing workflows in a clinical setting.
- Experience in software development project management.
- Familiarity with Linux-based scientific computing techniques and programming languages, such as scripting using Python, R, working with SGE/SLURM queue, etc., is a plus.
- Familiarity with Windows- and Microsoft Azure-based web application development is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust and scalable technology platform supporting lab operations and data review needs.
- Lead software development for the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Support product development by translating research prototypes and novel workflows into scalable and robust production pipelines.
- Design best practices, protocols, and APIs for system integration and data exchange.
- Manage multiple teams' OKR, KPI, and performance.
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary and regulated clinical diagnostics environment with geneticists, bioinformaticians, software developers, and IT infrastructure professionals.
- Participate in and, when needed, lead interactions with current and prospective business partners.
