Job Description

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Sr. Associate Scientist in molecular biology and metabolism to support our drug discovery programs. This candidate will play an active role in animal model development for pharmacology studies to address biological hypotheses. Working closely with other Research colleagues, this team member will employ molecular and cellular techniques to assess antibody function. This role will play a crucial role in the characterization of potential drugs at the discovery and preclinical stages and thus provides great exposure to the drug discovery process. The successful candidate will be an ambitious and energetic self-starter who is motivated to apply their skills and creativity to drug discovery and enjoys working in a fast-paced team setting.

Position Responsibilities:

    • Supervise the execution of pharmacology studies at CROs and perform in-house downstream analysis to support drug discovery program needs.
    • Support in vitro studies as needed.
    • Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols and data in laboratory notebooks in accordance with company policy.
    • Analyze, interpret, and present experimental results to team members and the larger research organization.
    • Actively contribute to critical cross-functional team discussions.

Candidate Requirements:

    • BA/BS or MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, metabolism, or related field with 2-5 years of experience in drug discovery research.
    • Must have experience designing and executing in vivo animal models of metabolic disease.  Experience with pharmacology studies is a plus.
    • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as DNA and RNA extraction, qPCR, protein quantification, ELISA, and enzymatic assays is required. Experience with mammalian cell culture is desired.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently, including experimental design and execution, in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot problems and propose creative solutions.
    • Ability to effectively communicate and document research.
    • Self-motivated and comfortable operating independently and within teams.
