Gram-negative bacteremia is an increasingly difficult condition to treat due to the emergence of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative organisms. Rapid diagnostics have been developed to help identify these organisms quickly along with other Gram-negative infections, enabling more timely treatment decisions. This webinar will explore a molecular option for this testing, how the rapid detection of Gram-negative organisms along with genotypic resistance can help guide therapy decisions, and strategies to promote successful implementation within your institution.

Dr. Maggie Box, Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Scripps Memorial Hospital
Dr. Box has directed the antimicrobial stewardship program at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California for the past 8 years. She received her PharmD from the University of Nebraska in 2006, and completed her acute care residency at the Phoenix VA Medical Center in 2007 and her infectious diseases specialty residency at the University of California, San Diego in 2008.

Dr. Claeys is also the Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist at University of Maryland Medical Center. She completed her PharmD at Wayne State University Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Detroit, Michigan. She then completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy and University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital and Health Sciences System. After residency, she completed a two-year Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy and Health Outcomes Fellowship at the Anti-Infective Research Laboratory at Wayne State University as well as a Graduate Certificate in Public Health from Wayne State University School of Medicine.
