In this episode, Ayesha spoke with Rajesh (Raj) Devraj, PhD, CEO of Rectify Pharma, a company focused on advancing Positive Functional Modulators (PFMs), a novel class of oral, small molecules that restore and enhance membrane protein function linked to various liver, cardio-renal-metabolic, and neurodegenerative diseases. The company’s lead program is in the hepatobiliary space.

In addition to serving as the CEO of Rectify Pharma, Dr. Devraj is a Venture Partner at Atlas Venture. Prior to Rectify, Raj co-founded Disarm Therapeutics with Atlas and served as its chief scientific officer prior to its acquisition by Eli Lilly.

Dr. Devraj has over 25 years of experience in both large pharma and biotech, including leadership roles at Pfizer, Deciphera, and Jubilant Life Sciences, with a focus on creating and building groundbreaking biotech companies.

He is well known for his “drug hunting” capabilities and deep knowledge of drug discovery, early clinical development and strategic planning teams that have helped advanced multiple candidates into clinical trials for refractory cancers, autoimmune diseases, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), diabetic nephropathy, COPD and pain.

Dr. Devraj holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Mumbai and a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from Duquesne University.
