To support the continued growth of our Phase I business, ERG operates CLIA-certified, GLP-compliant safety laboratories integrated with our early-phase clinical operations. These laboratories provide high-quality, timely safety testing to support first-in-human and other early-phase clinical trials.
Job Description
The Laboratory Technician, Clinical Research (CLIA/GLP) supports the daily operational activities of ERG's clinical research safety laboratory. This role is responsible for specimen handling, laboratory testing, documentation, and equipment maintenance in accordance with CLIA, GLP, GCP, SOPs, OSHA standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The Laboratory Technician works under the supervision of laboratory leadership and collaborates closely with clinical and research teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant laboratory results in support of clinical trials.

The Laboratory Technician, Clinical Research (CLIA/GLP) supports the daily operational activities of ERG's clinical research safety laboratory. This role is responsible for specimen handling, laboratory testing, documentation, and equipment maintenance in accordance with CLIA, GLP, GCP, SOPs, OSHA standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The Laboratory Technician works under the supervision of laboratory leadership and collaborates closely with clinical and research teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant laboratory results in support of clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
- Perform routine laboratory testing and procedures in accordance with established SOPs, protocols, and quality standards.
- Process, label, prepare, and store biological specimens per protocol and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of laboratory activities, test results, and quality records.
- Assist with sample shipment to reference laboratories in compliance with protocol, sponsor, and regulatory requirements.
Compliance & Quality
- Adhere to CLIA, GLP, GCP, IRB, OSHA, and applicable state and federal regulations at all times.
- Support inspection and audit readiness by maintaining an organized, compliant, and inspection-ready laboratory environment.
- Participate in quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing activities as assigned.
- Promptly report deviations, errors, or equipment issues to laboratory leadership.
Equipment & Supplies
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration checks, and cleaning per SOPs.
- Monitor laboratory inventory levels and assist with restocking supplies.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of reagents, controls, and specimens.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with clinical staff to support study-related laboratory needs.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory leadership regarding workload, issues, and priorities.
- Participate in training, competency assessments, and continuing education as required.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in a laboratory science or related field.
- Prior experience in a clinical, medical, or research laboratory setting preferred.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety practices and regulatory compliance expectations.
