Job Description

Conducts high complexity molecular tests in the treatment and diagnosis of genetic diseases

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs clinical testing in compliance with CAP, NY, CLIA regulations
  • Troubleshoots assay performance
  • Operates and maintains the laboratory equipment, maintains the lab following 5S standards
  • Performs QC and informs manager/supervisor immediately if systems deviate from the laboratory’s established specification
  • Maintains laboratory stock levels and restocking supplies
  • Trains new employees as needed
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics’ Compliance Program

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Molecular Genetics Technologist I
    • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
    • Relevant experience: 0-2 years
    • Certification (preferred): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)

 

  • Molecular Genetics Technologist II
    • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
    • Relevant experience: 2-4 years
    • Certification (preferred): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)

OR

  • Degree: Master’s degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
  • Relevant experience: 0-2 years
  • Certification (preferred): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
