The Research Scientist may be responsible for the development and characterization of biochemical or cellular assays for testing large molecule protein therapeutics and small molecule chemical samples as well as conducting more basic research to characterize proteins and their role in disease states. The job may involve the automation of assays and high-throughput screening, as well as potency and selectivity testing. You will be responsible for design, analysis and interpretation of assay development, high throughput screening, and potency experiments. A major component in the scientist's performance rating will be based on productivity, teamwork, and cooperation.

Pay Range: $62,353.20/yr.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to pre-clinical Drug Discovery research projects.
- Design, analyze, interpret, and present results from assay development and biomolecule or compound characterization to customers.
- Apply a broad spectrum of practical laboratory skills, including molecular biology, cell culture, and biochemistry, alongside in-depth data analysis of bioactivity data.
- Utilize standard laboratory equipment, including precision pipettes, balances, pH meters, gel imagers and plate readers.
- Develop and transfer bioactivity screen assays to robotic systems for high-throughput screening.
- Prepare compound libraries for internal and customer-facing screening projects.
- Support the development and testing of HPLC/UPLC and LC/MS methods, spanning proteomics, protein intact mass, and small molecule binding.
- Execute high-throughput secondary screenings to generate high-quality data sets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's with a major in Biology or Biochemistry, or equivalent industrial experience
- Academic laboratory experience conducting molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, assay development and validation.
- Computer training in the use of standard office software applications and databases
Preferred
- Master's degree in Biology or Biochemistry with a laboratory-based thesis or 2 years of academic or industrial experience
Other Qualifications
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a drug screen
- May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening
