Position Summary

The Senior Director, Sales Compensation Design & Operations drives Empower's compensation strategy, ensuring it fuels precision, performance, and profitability. This role architects scalable, transparent compensation systems that align pay with measurable impact and growth outcomes. Responsible for integrating data, process, and human motivation, the Senior Director uses AI to automate, forecast, and optimize compensation performance. This leader operationalizes accuracy, transparency, and speed-builds a unified architecture that rewards excellence, eliminates friction, and transforms compensation into a strategic business advantage. The Senior Director is accountable for developing both the systems and the people that make Empower's sales engine thrive.

Duties and Responsibilities

Design and Govern Compensation Architecture
  • Build a unified compensation framework aligned with financial goals and growth strategy.
  • Integrate plan design, approvals, and audits into one closed-loop system.
  • Validate all structures through modeling and fiscal scenario testing to ensure fairness and impact.

Operationalize Precision and Scale
  • Execute payout cycles flawlessly using automation, audit controls, and governance checkpoints.
  • Unify CRM, ERP, and HR platforms into a real-time source of truth for compensation data.
  • Establish post-cycle reviews to identify root causes and drive continuous improvement.

Build and Lead a High-Performance Team
  • Design an organizational blueprint with distinct accountability across design, analytics, and operations.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop experts who think strategically and execute rigorously.
  • Foster a culture of precision, transparency, and measurable ownership.

Integrate Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics
  • Deploy AI tools to automate validation, forecasting, and payout accuracy.
  • Build predictive models that simulate performance outcomes and highlight risk areas.
  • Translate analytics into executive-ready insights that inform proactive decisions.

Partner Cross-Functionally for Strategic Alignment
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, and Sales to synchronize compensation with business priorities.
  • Present financial and behavioral implications of compensation decisions with clarity and confidence.
  • Drive alignment between revenue architecture and human performance across functions.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep expertise in sales compensation design, modeling, and operations, with demonstrated success scaling high-growth organizations.
  • Proficiency in leveraging AI, data analytics, and automation tools to drive compensation accuracy and predictive insights.
  • Advanced ability to integrate systems across CRM, HRIS, and Finance platforms for end-to-end visibility.
  • Strong executive communication and leadership skills with proven capacity to align cross-functional stakeholders around measurable outcomes.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, or related field; Master's preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in sales compensation design, analytics, or operations within high-growth or performance-driven organizations.
  • Proven success leading automation, data integration, or AI-enabled compensation transformations.
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing teams across complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
