Job Description
The Sr Scientific Advisor is a role on the LabConnect Scientific Affairs team, responsible for providing scientific and technical expertise in support of our customers and internal business units. Specializing in clinical and specialty testing, the Sr. Scientist Advisor reviews clinical protocols, develops analytical strategies, engages in scientific exchange, and conducts comprehensive data reviews.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a SME in specialty testing, providing guidance and consultation to internal and external customers.
- Reviews clinical protocols to determine testing needs and develops the analytical strategy within a global laboratory network.
- Leads clinical assay development activities in a regulated environment.
- Supports global analytical harmonization initiatives including strategy guidance, data review, and expansion efforts.
- Participates in relevant scientific exchange with sponsors, laboratories and internal LabConnect personnel.
- Partners with cross-functional teams within LabConnect to investigate client escalations or technical issues and provide acceptable solutions within expected timelines.
- Supports scientific requests that come from various departments in the company including but not limited to Client Services and Business Development Operations.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences or related health field discipline.
- Advanced degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, or similar highly desired
- 7 + years of relevant industry experience in central lab/clinical research, including at least 3 + years of relevant bench experience.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to come to conclusions and make clear concise recommendations based on scientific and technical information.
- Experience with molecular testing for clinical diagnostics, especially for NGS and liquid biopsy.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques, NGS, Real-time PCR, or Immunoassays
- Experience analyzing complex sequencing datasets, including WES, WGS, RNA-Seq, Methyl-Seq and ctDNA testing preferred.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in review of protocols, testing strategy, and clinical objectives.
- Ability to influence and provide strategic recommendations to clients and internal decision makers.
- Sense of urgency to meet deadlines with ability to independently manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently.
- Collaborative with excellent communication skills working with internal and external partners.
