Mike Thiel, Director of Security, Children’s Hospital and Health System
Mike Thiel is the Director of security for Children’s Hospital and Health System with approximately 5,500 employees at 106 different locations throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Children’s Hospital is the region’s only independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children and is consistently recognized as one of the leading pediatric health care centers in the United States. In addition to safety and security, Mike also leads emergency management for Children’s health system, as well as, sponsoring integration of pediatric care into healthcare coalitions. He serves on Wisconsin’s State Expert Panel on Surge Capacity and is an Executive Committee board member on the Southeast Wisconsin Healthcare Emergency Readiness Coalition.
Mike has 33 years of broad security management experience, having worked with some of the largest corporations in America. Before joining Children’s Hospital in 2000, Mike was the security manager at the Bradley Center, Milwaukee’s sports and entertainment center. In his spare time, Mike is an intermittent federal employee, serving as the Safety and Security Officer on Wisconsin’s Disaster Medical Assistance Team, a part of the National Disaster Management System. Among his many credentials, Mike is a Certified Protection Professional, the security industry’s highest recognition of security practitioners.
