Food Process Screening with an Advanced Water Reuse Filtering System to Maximize Sustainability and Savings

In 2021, Lyco helped customers save over 2.5 billion gallons of water with their Water Reuse System.

In recent years, their Sanitary Zero Maintenance screen has been redesigned for in-plant process water reuse applications. This includes bird washers, bird chiller, beef carcass wash water, PEC (pre-evis carcass washers), hide-on wash water and freezer defrost/Clean In Place (CIP) water.

This system includes a dual canister fully automated secondary filter that takes pre-screened water from the Zero Maintenance screen at a rate of 50 to 400 gpm (gallons per minute). The two canister filters then remove more solids, making the water usable for a second time for upstream reuse applications.

The Sanitary Zero Maintenance System is highly effective, easy to operate and maintenance free. Its prominent features include an oil impregnated bearing surface which requires no trunnions and lubrication, a sanitary design with the CIP system and a user-friendly programmable logic controller (PLC). In addition, the fully automated system eliminates labor.

In this the webinar, the featured speakers will discuss the optimal solutions for:

  • Reducing wastewater cost
  • Lowering chemical usage
  • Reduction of fats, oils and grease
  • Clean In Place System to stop blinding of screen

This webinar will demonstrate return on investment by reduced water usage, minimal operational labor resources and a lower cost of ownership with the Zero Maintenance design. In addition, the speakers will also discuss the rapid filter change options, auto pressure purge feature, “on the fly” plugged filter change and the fully automated PLC control system.

We have a Laboratory where we test run each new machine we make. Customers send us their raw products and visit us to observe how our designs work on their products. We routinely help them develop new processes and new recipes. Lyco developed the only continuous pressure cooker in the world 10 years ago for cooking dry beans and rice. We have an actual production line set up in our Lab and can demonstrate how dry bean cook times can be reduced from 40 minutes to 6 or 8 minutes and enhanced quality in several different ways. Rice cook times are reduced from 20 minutes down to 6 or 8 minutes.

Our atmospheric blanchers, cookers and coolers are all state-of-the-art designs that have increased capacity, improved product quality and reduced damage with sanitary designs that clean up faster than competitive designs. We have the latest designs set up in our Lab most of the time.
