The Mind-bending Mushroom: Expanding Consciousness and Cultural Acceptance of Psychedelic Alkaloids as Medicinal Tools

  • Wednesday, November 15, 2023

Mushrooms have been used in medicinal and spiritual practices by Indigenous cultures around the world for several millennia. Because of renewed interest in entheogenic plant molecules as therapeutics, there is a large body of research building around psychedelic alkaloids found in the fungi kingdom. The three most studied genera include PsilocybeAmanita and Claviceps, each with its own infamous history.

These fungi have captured our imagination and lie at the heart of scientific, health and even political movements, from Life Magazine to Mario Brothers and Project MK-Ultra.

In this webinar, the featured speaker will discuss the pharmacology and chemistry of tryptamines, beta-carbolines, isoxazoles and ergolines classes of alkaloids and their use in psychedelic medicine.

Join this webinar and learn about the history, chemistry and pharmacology behind some of the most notorious alkaloids in human history.

Cayman Chemical

Headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Cayman Chemical supplies scientists worldwide with the resources necessary for advancing human and animal health. We manufacture high quality biochemicals, assay kits, antibodies, and recombinant proteins and offer contract services for custom chemical synthesis and analysis, bioanalysis, assay development, and drug discovery.

For research and regulatory compliance in the use of psychedelic compounds, Cayman has a range of reference standards available as parent drugs, metabolites, degradants, and structurally related compounds in both their native and stable isotope forms. Our chemists manufacture both well-known and novel compounds in our DEA-regulated facilities. Larger quantities, custom synthesis and formulations, and characterization can be requested while our Medicinal Chemistry & Structural Biology services offer a fully integrated, multidisciplinary approach to help you identify new targets for pharmaceutical drug discovery.

Cayman also provides authentic analytical standards and research compounds, as well as qualified ISO-accredited reference materials for a wide range of naturally derived and synthetic psychoactive substances. We specialize in the synthesis, purification, and characterization of novel compounds.
