Award Winning “Bleeding” Vegan Burger Manufacturer Introduces Vegan Hot Dogs

Plant-based meat alternatives manufacturer, Beyond Meat, has launched a hotdog product after finding success with their “bleeding” burger patties. The Beyond Sausage is available in Original Bratwurst, Hot Italian and Sweet Italian varieties.

The Beyond Sausage is the fifth innovation from Beyond Meat. These sausages are made from pea, fava bean and rice protein, along with beets for colour and coconut oil for texture. Just like their award-winning Beyond Burger, Beyond Sausages are designed to look, feel and taste like their meaty counterparts.

“I love Beyond Sausage first and foremost because it’s truly so enjoyable to eat but also because I see it as an advance in our team’s relentless march toward a perfect build of meat from plants,” said Ethan Brown, chief executive officer of Beyond Meat. “Though we aren’t there yet, I’m encouraged by the progress we’ve made with Beyond Sausage and look forward to hearing what the consumer thinks.”

Last year, the Beyond Burger won Product of the Year in VegNews Magazine. This year, with the launch of their new product, Beyond Meat hopes to further their impact on the alternative meat industry with more product varieties. The company has already caught the attention of major investors with over $55 million in funds raised from companies like Tyson Foods.

Major influencers such as Leonardo DiCaprio have already invested in this start-up company as well. The actor believes that his investment can help build the company and also encourage consumers to purchase meat products that are better for their health and the environment.

“Livestock production is a major contributor to carbon emissions. Shifting from animal meat to the plant-based meats developed by Beyond Meat is one of the most powerful measures someone can take to reduce their impact on our climate,” DiCaprio said in a statement.

Beyond Meats has gained in popularity through social media marketing as the “bleeding” burger and through the support of well-known influencers. With no bioengineered ingredients, soy, gluten or dairy, the Beyond Meat’s products appeal to a large variety of consumers. As the market becomes more health-focused, products like Beyond Sausages and Beyond Burgers are gaining investors from meat industry itself. Their innovative meat alternatives are available for purchase at 5,000 retailers including Whole Foods and 4,000 restaurants.

“As a category leader in plant-based meat alternatives, Beyond Meat has revolutionized how consumers get their protein,” said Red Elk Banks, vice-president of Whole Foods Market’s Rocky Mountain Region. “We’re thrilled to introduce the Beyond Sausage to our Boulder shoppers, and proud to partner with Beyond Meat on the introduction of another innovative and delicious plant-based protein.”
