CenterWell Senior Primary Care Expands to Walmart Stores in Four States

Each new CentreWell facility will be staffed by a team of board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, care coaches, social workers, behavioral health specialists and clinical pharmacists.

CenterWell Senior Primary Care is set to expand its reach by opening 23 new senior-focused primary care centers at Walmart Supercenter locations across four US states. This initiative marks a significant step in making healthcare more accessible for older adults. The centers, branded under CenterWell Senior Primary Care and Conviva Care Centers, will be located in Florida, Georgia, Missouri and Texas.

The new facilities aim to provide accessible and comprehensive primary care services for older adults in these communities. According to CenterWell, the centers will be situated next to Walmart stores in spaces previously occupied by Walmart Health. These spaces will be fully equipped and operational by the first half of next year.

Financial details of the lease agreement between CenterWell and Walmart have not been disclosed. However, the collaboration is seen as a strategic move to enhance healthcare accessibility.

“CenterWell is committed to providing seniors with high-quality healthcare that is accessible, comprehensive and, most of all, personalized,” said CenterWell president Sanjay Shetty, in a press release. “We are excited by the unique opportunity to lease space from a world-class community partner such as Walmart and offer seniors in these four states greater access to our integrated approach to care.”

As part of Humana’s Primary Care Organization, CenterWell Senior Primary Care and Conviva Care Centers already serve around 318,000 older adults across nearly 300 centers in 15 states. The expansion into Walmart Supercenter locations will further their mission of providing patient-centered care.

Each facility will be staffed by a team of board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, care coaches, social workers, behavioral health specialists and clinical pharmacists. These teams will develop evidence-based care plans tailored to meet the comprehensive medical and social needs of older adults.

The partnership with Walmart is expected to bring significant benefits to both customers and patients.

“We are looking forward to welcoming CenterWell into these purpose-built healthcare spaces to offer quality care to communities in four states, said Brian Setzer, executive vice-president of Walmart Health & Wellness, in the same press release. “Leasing these spaces to a well-known and successful healthcare delivery organization is a win for customers and patients, as we continue to focus on our core health and wellness business of pharmacy and optical.”

CenterWell Senior Primary Care’s collaboration with Walmart is a notable development in the healthcare sector. By leveraging Walmart’s extensive retail footprint, CenterWell aims to make high-quality primary care services more accessible to older adults. This initiative underscores the growing trend of integrating healthcare services into everyday retail environments, providing convenience and comprehensive care for the aging population.
