Summary of Position:

The Associate Scientist I/Associate Scientist II will be part of a Translational Biomarker team to assist in the clinical progression of novel antibody-based therapies for the treatment of cancer. In this position, the candidate will support multiparameter biomarker analysis of clinical samples from patients enrolled in ongoing clinical trials as well as back-translational research activities. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for carrying over experiments to develop, to optimize and to implement current and novel high-throughput multiplexed assays on different platforms.

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

  •  Perform conventional and spectral flow cytometry as well as mass cytometry analysis to investigate binding properties, biological responses, and phenotype and functional changes in different cell subsets from samples derived from patients
  •  Perform immune cell-based and protein soluble assays including bead-based multiplex assays such as Luminex
  •  Isolate human primary cell populations from normal or diseased blood or tissues (peripheral blood mononuclear cells, T cell subpopulations, myeloid cells, B cells, etc.)
  •  Develop new methods and technologies for implementation and project advancement
  •  Collect, analyze, and report results to supervisor
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental data and protocols
  • Work with the Director to prepare data summary and reports
  • Maintain instrument and lab equipment
  • Maintain inventory and help with ordering laboratory supplies and reagents
  • Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment
  • Perform laboratory work following standard operating protocols
  • Operate all tasks under minimal supervision

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Scientist II, Translational Biomarker Group

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 8 years of related experience

OR

  • Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 5 years of related experience

Associate Scientist I, Translational Biomarker Group

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s Degree in scientific discipline with a minimum of 5 years of related experience

OR

  • Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 2 years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  •  Proficiency in flow cytometry
  •  Proficiency in basic immunology techniques, including ELISA and Luminex assays
  •  General knowledge of mammalian tissue culture
  •  Ability to work independently, to be able to solve problem, and to know when to ask for assistance
  •  Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other members of a team
  •  Ability to multitask
  •  Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate results effectively, both in written form and orally, including formal data presentation

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Preferred Qualification:

  • Knowledge of mass cytometry and spectral flow cytometry is preferred

Additional Information

The annual rate of pay for this position ranges from $73,000 to $109,600 (Associate Scientist I) and $84,700 to $131,400 (Associate Scientist II). For non-exempt roles, and according to applicable regulations, there may be the possibility for overtime pay. This role is eligible for the Company’s discretionary bonus and discretionary equity incentives. The annual pay rate range is described in good faith, and the Company believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. The Company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and this range may be modified in the future. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable under the terms and conditions of the applicable policies and plans. The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, benefits, or any other form of compensation and benefits that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company’s sole discretion, consistent with the law.
