As the Auditor Product Certification - Houston, TX you will be responsible for providing audit services to Certification programs and other NSF clients. As a member of the NSF Product Certification team, auditors are on the front lines of protecting public health and safety by evaluating a product's manufacturing processes to ensure the products comply with specific standards for safety, quality, sustainability and/or performance. Product audit types typically include chemical companies, food equipment manufacturers, drinking water treatment units and filters, pool and spa equipment, and so much more.

As a member of the NSF Product Certification team, auditors are on the front lines of protecting public health and safety by evaluating a product's manufacturing processes to ensure the products comply with specific standards for safety, quality, sustainability and/or performance. Product audit types typically include chemical companies, food equipment manufacturers, drinking water treatment units and filters, pool and spa equipment, and so much more.
Responsibilities
- Conduct product certification audits and effectively summarize audit findings
- Communicate findings/results of audits with client site management or designation representatives
- Manage enforcement issues stemming from certification audits
- Conduct special visits to investigate product failures and verify the implementation of corrective actions taken by NSF clients
- Investigate and resolve complaints
- Meet and maintain weekly key performance indicators to ensure successful completion of all assigned work
- Develop cost-effective work plans for the completion of all assigned audits
- Establish and maintain effective communication with the account management team as it relates to assigned clients
- Monitor and report client needs, service delivery issues, and competitive threats to the management team
- Support NSF's business units by assisting clients in the identification of additional NSF services that may be beneficial (examples - new products for certification, test-only services, quality system registration)
- Perform other duties as requested
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental health, or related sciences
- Ability to work independently from remote (home based) location
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Must have a valid driver license
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing or other non-office setting
- Must live in Houston or close to Houston area
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in environmental health, or related science
- Two (2) years food processing or health department/field auditing experience or with quality control
- Two (2) years experience working in the public or private sector as a health sanitarian
- Work experience as a chemist, microbiologist, or related quality function
- Professional registration
Physical Demands
- Required frequent overnight travel
- Required to stand or walk for long periods of time
- Medium to heavy physical effort required (ability to carry equipment weighing 25 lbs or less)
