Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bioprocessing Scientist/Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in large-scale bioprocessing, particularly in the development of biologics and cell and gene therapy (CGT) products. This role requires a strong background in working with stem cells and organoids in 3D cultures using stirred-tank reactors (STRs), as well as expertise in laboratory operations, equipment troubleshooting, and large-scale process optimization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing our bioprocessing capabilities and ensuring the efficient operation of our laboratory facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Large-Scale Bioprocessing Expertise: Support long-term cell and gene therapy and biologics development projects, focusing on large-scale (50L+) bioprocessing techniques and strategies.
  • Stem Cell and Organoid Cultures: Work with stem cells and organoids in 3D cultures using traditional stirred-tank reactors (STRs) to optimize growth and production processes. Experience with ATF and centrifugation is a plus.
  • Equipment Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Serve as the first line of troubleshooting and repair for specialized laboratory equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Media and Factor Preparation Management: Oversee the ordering, scheduling, and preparation of media, factors, and raw materials, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to support ongoing experiments.
  • Laboratory Operations and Inventory Management: Collaborate with Lab Operations and Facilities teams to enhance laboratory efficiency, implement consumables kanban/FIFO systems, and manage spare parts inventory.
  • Bioreactor System Deployment: Support the rollout, deployment, and testing of DeltaV bioreactor systems, ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows. Independently set up and operate bioreactors for stem cell culture.
  • GxP Documentation and ELN Management: Maintain accurate and compliant GxP documentation and ensure timely and detailed entries in the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN).
  • Communication and Collaboration: Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, present findings, and document processes.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, or a related field. Years of experience: 4+ for MS or 6+ for BS
  • Proven expertise in large-scale bioprocessing for biologics and CGT development.
  • Hands-on experience with stem cell and organoid culture, preferably in STRs.
  • Strong technical skills in troubleshooting and repairing specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Experience in laboratory operations, including consumables management, kanban/FIFO systems, and spare parts inventory.
  • Familiarity with DeltaV bioreactor systems and their deployment/testing.
  • Knowledge of GxP compliance and experience with Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Why Join Us?
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge bioprocessing technologies and contribute to the development of life-changing therapies.
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment with a focus on professional growth and development.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
