Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Configuration Engineer to support the management, control, and integrity of system and software configurations across a product lifecycle. This role is critical in ensuring consistency, traceability, and compliance of both internally developed and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of configuration management principles, change control processes, and software development support tools.

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Configuration Engineer to support the management, control, and integrity of system and software configurations across a product lifecycle. This role is critical in ensuring consistency, traceability, and compliance of both internally developed and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of configuration management principles, change control processes, and software development support tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze equipment, system, and software design changes to assess impacts on overall product functionality.
- Prepare and maintain documentation required to support configuration changes and ensure audit readiness.
- Manage and control configuration baselines to ensure consistency across the entire product inventory.
- Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management (CM) tools supporting identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software products.
- Perform configuration management and release engineering activities to ensure software products are properly documented, compliant with hardware standards, and operationally sustainable.
- Establish and maintain configuration management policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Review and authorize the release of technical drawings and software configuration changes in coordination with management and cross-functional teams.
- Design, develop, and automate tools using programming, database, or scripting languages to improve software development efficiency and modeling.
- Support and implement software build and release processes to enable efficient product development and deployment.
- Collaborate with engineering, QA, and program teams to ensure alignment with configuration and release standards.
Required Skills
- Active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with configuration management principles, processes, and tools.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and release engineering practices.
- Experience managing both custom-developed and COTS software products.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Subversion, ClearCase, or similar).
- Knowledge of build and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, etc.).
- Familiarity with database systems and data management.
- Experience working in regulated or government environments.
