Job Description

The Executive Director of Patient Services will serve as a senior leader responsible for driving the strategy, execution, and continuous advancement of Catalyst Pharmaceuticals' patient support and functions. This individual will oversee the Patient Services team, lead the development of innovative and compliant patient support programs, and direct payer and access strategies that ensure patients can start and stay on therapy. With a focus on rare disease markets, the Executive Director will collaborate across the enterprise to elevate patient experience, optimize access pathways, and reinforce Catalyst's mission to improve patient lives. Executive Director of Patient Services leads and develops a team of patient service professionals and balances strategic planning with hands-on operational execution to enable commercial success and organizational scalability. The Executive Director of Patient Services is responsible for leading our relationships with key vendors in the Specialty Distribution, Specialty Pharmacy, and HUB services.

Requirements

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Provide strategic direction for patient support programs that set industry benchmarks and align with Catalyst's mission and values
  • Oversee key Patient Services functions, including but not limited to:

o Patient Service Promotional Review Submissions (PRC)

o Patient Service conferences, exhibits, and sponsorships

o Patient Service Promotional materials and asset management

o Vendor selection, onboarding, and performance management
  • Lead multiple first line managers responsible for Patient Access Liaison, Operations, and Vendor management
  • Shape and execute a comprehensive patient strategy across the product lifecycle, from launch through loss of exclusivity
  • Act as a senior advisor during annual business planning, ensuring patient services and considerations are embedded in enterprise priorities
  • Lead and oversee the Patient Services team, cultivating a culture of excellence, accountability, and patient centricity
  • Ensure operational excellence in patient support programs, leveraging analytics, market insights, and patient feedback to drive innovation and optimization
  • Anticipate and address evolving patient needs by assessing competitive landscapes, insurance dynamics, and support service trends
  • Establish and oversee governance for field-based incentive structures that align with corporate strategy and departmental priorities
  • Lead and oversee all initiatives, directing payer access strategies, contracting, and pricing committee activities in collaboration with finance and relevant parties.
  • Ensure patient services and capabilities are aligned with launch, promotion, and lifecycle management needs for all products
  • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external vendors, ensuring service delivery supports Catalyst's strategic goals and compliance standards
  • Anticipate rare disease access challenges and champion solutions that position Catalyst's therapies for success
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory and policy developments, guiding the adoption of compliant practices that enhance patient services and programs
  • Ensure enterprise adherence to all applicable industry and regulatory requirements, including appropriate training for internal and field-based teams
  • Serve as a senior collaborator with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Advocacy, and Sales to embed patient-centric principles into all commercial and operational activities
  • Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and continuously improve commercial operations effectiveness
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory, legal, and corporate compliance standards
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve policies, procedures, and operational tools related to Patient Services
  • Exercise executive oversight of budgets related to patient services and initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and alignment with organizational priorities
  • Drive accountability with internal teams and external partners through disciplined performance management and business reviews

Education/Experience/Skills :
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees are strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 10-12 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare or the pharmaceutical industry, with expertise in patient services
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing enterprise-level patient support and payer access strategies in rare disease or specialty markets
  • Proven track record of executive-level vendor oversight and external partner management
  • Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturer compliance standards, payer dynamics, and specialty distribution channels
  • Exceptional executive presence, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to engage C-suite leaders, external partners, and diverse stakeholders
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and operational acumen, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by business needs. Lead and coordinate cross functional teams to ensure alignment across marketing, sales, analytics, medical, regulatory, and other commercial functions
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors, agencies, and service providers
  • Domestic travel of approximately 50% is required

The base salary for this position will range from $267,000 to $295,000. Candidate experience, professional licensing, and geographic location will be taken into consideration.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required screening and verification processes, including for authority to work in the United States.
