Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a 2nd Shift Finishing Operator to join our team! As a Finishing Operator you are the final line of defense for quality before our labels reach the customer. You will be responsible for operating high-speed finishing equipment to slit, inspect, and rewind printed pressure-sensitive labels. This role requires a sharp eye for detail, a commitment to precision, and the ability to maintain a fast-paced production flow.

Responsibilities
- Receives job assignments from Press Supervisor or Team Lead; reads job specifications and selects correct cores and rewind method for job
- Reviews job jacket to ensure all finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressed
- Inspect products to ensure quality integrity and package products
- Observes flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding
- Ensure quality of work to include color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items being shipped
- Use strobe lights or automated inspection systems to identify and remove printing defects, flags, or splices.
- Ensure correct core sizes are used, apply end-of-roll tape, and securely box finished products with accurate labeling.
- Assist in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging of converting jobs
- Perform preventative maintenance on machines
- Remove or replace blades on inspection machines
- Completes paperwork for each job and packages finished goods for shipment to customer
- Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards
Qualifications
- You can spot a microscopic ink smudge on a roll moving at high speeds.
- Comfortable working with tools for setups and making minor mechanical adjustments.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong grasp of basic measurements (fractions and decimals) and the ability to read a ruler accurately.
- Previous experience in a printing, packaging, or manufacturing environment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic.
