Job Description

The Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston is currently recruiting for a full-time Instructor Clinical Genetic Counselor. The candidate will join a vibrant academic clinical practice comprising 3 MD Medical Geneticists, 1 MD/PhD Medical Geneticist, 9 Genetic Counselors, and 3 Metabolic Dieticians, delivering comprehensive genetic services.

Position Key Accountabilities:

The primary responsibility of this position is to collaborate with the Child Neurology Division in the care of patients affected by mitochondrial disorders, while also contributing to research in this area. This is a grant-funded appointment with guaranteed support for two years and the possibility of renewal. The Instructor will also contribute to the clinical and educational missions of the Division of Medical Genetics. Responsibilities include active participation in all educational activities of the Medical Genetics Division, including teaching medical students, residents, and fellows at UTHealth and its affiliated programs with MD Anderson Cancer Center and Houston Methodist.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling.
  • Board eligible or board certified.
