The Learning Strategist aligns engagement approaches, content themes, and short and long-term strategy for assigned programming to ensure learning experience goals are met and key programming areas operate in a safe, culturally responsive, and sustainable manner. The Learning Strategist provides leadership in developing, delivering, and sustaining museum engagement experiences that activate OMSI's strategic frameworks across programs and experiences.

Responsibilities include:
  • leading experience design and delivery for assigned programming areas;
  • serving as a subject-matter expert to co-develop program calendars, align resources, and integrate best practices from developmental science and informal education;
  • supervising and mentoring assigned Museum Engagement staff;
  • cultivating and stewarding partnerships to support co-created, inclusive programming.

The Learning Strategist predominately works in a guest facing role, leading museum floor and program experiences. Approximately 40% of the Strategist's time is spent facilitating experiences within OMSI's Labs and Exhibit Halls. 20% of the Strategist's time is allocated for program delivery. The remaining time is dedicated to off stage work with an estimated 40% of time allocated to staff and project management. Annual work plans will define the specific scope of programs, projects and tasks.

Qualified applicants to have the following work experience:
  • Minimum of 4 years experience with the following:
    • Examples of developing, synthesizing, and delivering educational content to diverse audiences, with an emphasis on educational programming for adolescents;
    • Experience working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and talents in professional work environments, with an emphasis on collaborative projects and deliverables;
    • Examples of effective communication with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a work environment, as well as fostering strong and lasting community partnerships and relationships and relationships.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with supervising and supporting the professional growth and development of staff and/or volunteers;
  • Examples of effective time management and budget tracking capabilities;
  • Examples of past experience training and mentoring staff and/or volunteers on educational practices.
