Job Description:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Location: Newburgh, NY
Hours/Days: 4 /10 Hour Shifts; Mon-Thu 7:30a-6p (RDO Friday)
Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)
In This Role, You Will:
- Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up to date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses
- Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
- Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff
- Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
- Escort patients to exam rooms
- Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
- Assist physician with exams and/or procedures
- Prepare and administer Injections
- Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
- Perform point of care lab testing
- Perform EKGs
- Administer and document medication under a physician's order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error
We Require:
- Current NYS LPN license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
- Experience with EMR's
- Reliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needs
