Job Summary

Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time MedicalAssistant. The schedule is Monday- Friday 8am-5pm. The Medical Assistant playsa critical role in the delivery of high-quality health care services and servesas the first point of contact for clients. This position is responsible forassisting clients throughout the care process, coordinating with providers, andensuring clients receive timely, comprehensive, and compassionate care.

It is the duty and responsibility of the MedicalAssistant to:

  • Collaboratewith medical providers, nursing staff, and leadership to ensure efficientpatient flow, minimize wait times, and maintain a high standard of patient careduring inpatient stay.
  • Demonstratethe ability to work effectively with multiple providers in person to supportseamless patient care.
  • Demonstratethe ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure in a fast-pacedprimary care environment.
  • Performduties in compliance with approved workflows.
  • Collectand document vital signs and medical history.
  • Administerand update PHQ-9 and GAD-7 screenings.
  • Reviewand update patient allergies.
  • Reconcileand update current medications.
  • Verifyand update preferred pharmacy information.
  • Completeprior authorizations for medications.
  • Collectand document UAs.
  • Accuratelydocument patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) incompliance with LDH requirements andCARF standards
  • Clearlyand consistently communicate patient concerns, complaints, and client needs toproviders on staff and to the Community Health Center to support continuity andquality of care.
  • Addressclient concerns received via e-mail from residential, partnered departments,and community agencies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Administerand accurately document intramuscular (IM) injections in accordance withprotocols.
  • Maintain aclean workstation.
  • Ensureadherence to HIPAA regulations, safeguarding patient privacy andconfidentiality always.
  • Consistentlyprovide compassionate, respectful, and culturally sensitive care to clientsfrom diverse backgrounds, regardless of socioeconomic or cultural differences.
  • Establishand maintain professional boundaries while fostering a caring and supportivepatient experience.
  • Performother duties as required

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
  • Current and unexpired CPR certification
  • Proficientin MS Office 365
  • Atleast 1 year of Electronic Health Records experience

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
