Job Description

Role Summary

The Patient Engagement Manager will lead the planning and execution of patient recruitment strategies across a portfolio of Novotech clinical trials. Working in close partnership with Sponsors, project teams, sites and external vendors, this role is accountable for delivering recruitment solutions that are scable, compliant, data-driven and aligned with study timelines and milestones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage end-to-end patient recruitment strategies for programs across diverse therapeutic areas, aligned with Sponsor objectives and protocol requirements.
  • Play a key role in establishing and scaling patient recruitment capability in the US, providing regional insight, leadership and execution support as part of a globally distributed team.
  • Leverage digital platforms, decentralised recruitment methods, and emerging technologies to enhance participant identification, engagement, and enrolment efficiency.
  • Serve as a strategic recruitment partner to Sponsors, providing expert guidance on recruitment risks, mitigation, and innovative enrolment approaches.
  • Lead the design and execution of multi-channel recruitment campaigns, including site-based, direct-to-patient, digital, and community-based outreach models.
  • Partner with the BD team during the pre-award phase to support proposal development and actively participate in BDMs and Sponsor presentations, clearly articulating recruitment approaches and capabilities.
  • Manage relationships with external recruitment vendors, media agencies, and patient engagement partners, including vendor selection, performance tracking, budget oversight, and contractual compliance.
  • Analyse recruitment data, KPIs, and site-level performance to assess effectiveness, identify risks and trends, and proactively implement corrective actions to optimise enrolment.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Management, Clinical Operations, Feasibility, Regulatory, and Data teams to ensure recruitment strategies are operationally feasible and aligned with trial delivery milestones.
  • Ensure all recruitment activities comply with global and local regulatory requirements, ethical guidelines, ICH-GCP standards, sponsor expectations, and internal SOPs.
  • Be a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on patient recruitment strategy and execution.
  • Stay current with global patient recruitment trends, regulatory developments, and best practices to continuously improve CRO recruitment capabilities and offerings.
  • Foster relationships with patient advocacy organisations, community groups, and healthcare networks to support long-term recruitment pipelines and disease-area expertise.

Qualifications

You are a commercially aware and delivery-focused patient recruitment professional with experience working in a CRO or Sponsor-facing environment. You excel at balancing strategic planning with operational execution and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key qualifications and experience include:
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, healthcare, public health, or a related field (advanced degree desirable).
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with strong planning and decision-making skills to determine recruitment focus areas based on study needs, timelines and risk.
  • Substantial experience in patient recruitment within a CRO, Sponsor, or global clinical research environment, with a strong track record of meeting enrolment targets across multiple studies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital and direct-to-patient recruitment strategies, including social media, online advertising, and technology-enabled recruitment solutions.
  • Strong understanding of global clinical trial regulations, ethics approvals, and recruitment compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage external vendors, budgets, and recruitment KPIs while delivering against Sponsor timelines and quality expectations.
  • Experience supporting Business Development teams in a CRO or Sponsor-facing environment, including contributing to proposals and presenting recruitment strategies during Bid Defence Meetings.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate recruitment insights and recommendations to sponsors and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Highly analytical and solution-oriented, with the ability to identify recruitment risks early and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
